RS4 with Audi Exclusive package - is it REALLY worth it?

Hi gang,

I'm looking to buy my first Audi soon, and have been dreaming of an RS4 for a while (as in the past 8 years ;)
I'm considering pulling the trigger on the only one I've ever seen (in pictures) with the Exclusive package. I like the leather combo, the wife was a little dismayed as a first impression. I know beauty is in the eye of the beerholder, but am curious if anyone has seen this interior package in the flesh, and if so has any comments either way?

I have. It was a Misano red rs4 and it was still way over the top for me. It reminds me of the interiors in the early 90s camaros. I can tell you one thing for sure, that interior is not a premium. In fact, it's brought the value down on quite a few cars as it takes much longer to find a buyer that likes it. That said, to each their own.

Hmmm... the seller says this does have the Premium package. How can you tell it doesn't??
Good point re: resale value too.

I don't think he is implying it doesn't have the package, just that most people wouldn't consider that to reflect a "premium" option.

I have it on my Daytona grey and I love it. I would not want to go back to an all black interior anymore. When I first saw pictures of my car, I did not like it at all, but it looks great in the flesh. In my opinion, pictures don't do this color scheme justice. Also, applying some leatherique gets rid of the shine, bringing the color back to what it should be. It looks cool in person and imo improves the look of an otherwise rather dated interior.

I personally like the red/black interior but totally agree that most do not. If you may be selling it in a few years think about the resale. It WILL be tougher to get rid of than all black or even the silver which a lot don't prefer either. That being said, if you like it, pull the trigger!

You've got to be kidding me. All black interior are a dime a dozen, the exclusive package is more rare.

Like I said, I like the red. I would've liked to find one myself but there is a reason they made more solid black interiors. People like them. A dime a dozen true, but preferred by most.

I really like the door cards but the seats are a bit much.

The fact that the red flows into the shoulders and seatback takes it a bit over the top, IMO.

When you say "is it worth it"- I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for that spec, as has been mentioned. But if you like it, go for it!

Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's desirable. There's no question that this would be harder to sell than one with a standard interior.

I could live it with on the right exterior color….i'd swap out door cards to black so it wasn't so busy and red feeling inside.

Had the same scheme in my b8.5 s4. Agree it looks much better in person and compliments certain exterior colors.

I have the blue alacantara interior in my Audi. Searched far and wide for a year before I came across a clean car. It made me want to own the car even more but thats just me. If you like it pull the trigger!!

Is that the one for sale at Carbon Oak? If it is, I took a look at that one and during the test drive once the engine was warm I noticed a puff of blue smoke coming from the exhaust after sitting at idle at a red light. This is the same issue I had with my RS4 that ended up with me selling the car. My suggestion is get a compression check done on the engine by a dealer or a reputable shop. Mine had low compression in one of the cylinders. Had it scoped and it showed scoring, which was probably the cause of the problem. I had a thread about this before and quite a few people had the same smoking problem. I think a couple of them managed to solve it by replacing PCV, or injectors. And one other had low compression in a cylinder also. Best to know what type of repair is needed before spending that much money on a car. My repair quote was through the roof so I dumped the car and moved onto another car. But I am still looking for another RS4 to buy some day. Just waiting for the right one to come up for sale

There is a guy in the bay that has a black rs4 with that interior and it looks awesome, but I dont think I would like it on any other color car.

It is the black one at Carbon oak. They were supposed to get back to me with details today, but I didn't hear from them.
Blue smoke coming out of a German car is never a good thing (unless, perhaps, from a vape). Ottawa is a 5 hour drive for me, and I was trying to find the time to make the trip soon, but I believe you just saved me 10 hours and a whack of $s. Thanks Renn.
