034 driveshaft bearing is useless, what are my options.

Ill try to keep this short. I had a bad center support bearing on my driveshaft so i rebuilt the rubber support with some tough rubber/poly casting my work had. Worked fine for over a year but i got tired of a small vibration at ~60mph. Got the 034 support bearing and (reluctantly) went through hell seperating the shaft and getting the new bearing in. Installed it and aligned it as close as you could get with a jig, it was pretty spot on. Lasted maybe 3 weeks and now my car shakes to an almost undrivable state on the freeway. Inspecting the 034 bearing, the rubber casting itself is incredibly weak, it almost can not support the weight of the bearing and bracket alone.... I am guessing that flimsy POS sags too much and ruins the shaft alignment. What are some options i have here? I am keeping this car for life, so I am really considered forking up to get a single piece to not deal with this issue. Any input is appreciated

Scott at advance automotion sells one and I hear it's good. Don't know from experience though. One piece steel design.

Single piece is going to vibrate no doubt. Either pony up for an OE or find a local driveshaft shop that sells remans.

I owned one from Scotty. Installed on my A4, and around town it was really nice. I noticed my 12v could put down much more power and it was easier to start from a stop. Well, the issue? It vibrated on the highway...like a lot.

Contacted Scotty, and he said to flip the CV joints as his supplier constructed some of them backwards. The shop did that and there was not change. The solution? Rebuild the original shaft.

So I sold it locally for $500. The guy I sold it to took to a driveshaft shop, and it turns out the shaft was improperly balanced. Scotty told me to send it back to him and he'd send me a replacement. But to ship it back to him for $150 and then pay $150 more in duties shipped to me, only to have the same problem? No thanks.

I mean it was a nice shaft, and I may have just gotten a bad one, but I'd rather get on from DSS or 034 instead.

If I were to go single piece I would take measurements and have it made locally.

As to the OP, what condition are your CV joints in? Any binding?

Buy a tip shaft and get that spacer so it fits in a manual car?

Did you allign it according to bently? With an aftermarket bearing i read you need to make sure the shaft is shimmed correctly up and down (uses smaller shim then the space look at link i added and the table in the bentley)Then adjusted left to right to make sure it straightens driveshaft you also should adjust the bearing foward and back as stated in bentley also.

I took my driveshaft to a local driveshaft shop and had a 1 piece made with the ends of my old driveshaft, put the cvs back on and re installed in the car and was good to go, they balanced it and I have felt no vibrations at all in town or on the highway.

You need to check that the ujoint doesnt have any tight spots in it as it rotates also.
Can you put it on a lift and spin it up? That is how I spotted the last one, itll go apeshit when you get it spinning.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

OP, sorry to hear you're having issues!

I'd recommend checking the condition of the Driveshaft CVs and U-Joint, as it's not normal for a new center support bearing to fail so soon after install. Please reach out to Sam at [email protected] so that we can get you into a replacemeent support bearing. We're also happy to help with the CVs if needed.
