    Need help, intake broken

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Opened the hood and found this. Obviously I will replace the intake part (found an OEM one online for $109) but any words of wisdom until I can do that? What do I use to reattach this? Gorilla glue? High heat epoxy? Any help is appreciated.

No idea. Car was recently at dealer to fix coolant pipe leak. Maybe they jacked it up removing engine cover? Out of warranty and should be easy enough to simply replace this part myself but I'm not sure how to fix it in the meantime.

I would just get some 2 inch heavy duty tape and tape the piss out of it and try to get it to seal as best you can.

This isnt going to be the answer you want to hear, but I would highly suggest not driving the car until you get the replacement piece.

Best case scenario, you're sucking in unfiltered air. Worst case scenario, you suck in the duct tape/glue/epoxy chunk or whatever it may be and damage your turbo

You can try gorilla glue to get it together, then duct tape on the outside. But I agree, in general, you don't want to do something where foreign material can get sucked into the turbo

I wouldn't drive the car until the replacement part comes in.

BTW, whoever works on your car broke your intake mounting tabs and tried to epoxy it back together. You can clearly see the epoxy in your picture. That is NOT stock!

    This.

I would go back to the dealer, this is a poor attempt to repair an already broken pipe. The actual pipe is black all the way through, not grey...

If this is in fact the case, and it has created a potentially hazardous situation, this is not only deceptive, it is criminal and subject to criminal prosecution, damages, etc.

1st thing I though was "it's already been glued!" What dealer was that? Doesn't take much to damage a turbo blade...that's scary bad work.

Yeah, I'd be curious if the dealer did this, and if so, you might want to have the turbo's looked at. If any plastic snapped and flew into the turbos, it could have caused some damage. How did you discover this? Sound?

Yeah, I heard it then popped the hood. It wasn't the dealer. It was the shop that does my tunes. Took it there for my 55K service. They never told me anything other than I need a new air filter. Motherfukers. The "glue" worked until this weekend (2 weeks). I did go to the dealer to have a turbo coolant leak fixed after that but I'm sure they wouldn't do this crap. Shop is getting a call tomorrow morning and they better rectify this. OK they can't rectify this bullshit (not telling me about the problem is reprehensible), but they better take care of me going forward.
