    Rust spots

Curious if anyone knows what these little spots are in my car and if in fact they are rust spots. After giving my car a good cleaning after winter there is little rust specs all over the paint, it's white so i can see it very clearly. I took my nail to it and it scrapes off but would be a pain in the ass without a porter cable to get off.

Does anyone have any experience with this or any tips on how to get it off easily?? I know I can get it off with a pad but don't have one that is easily accessible. Thanks.

Can you elaborate? Tiny little metal fragments? Why have I never got this on any of my other cars? It's literally everywhere on the car with exception of the front, hood, and top of the car.

Iron-X is super easy to use and comes in VERY handy with a white car. Buy some and follow the instructions - you'll be amazed and won't regret it.

It is serious and seriously good. I have had two white cars and this stuff works. The crap on your car is fallout from the air and your brakes. Most white cars see more of it on the rear of the vehicle because of your breaks. You might have to agitate the heavier spots to get them off with the iron x. Use the iron x before claying if you go that route.

You need to clay your car.
I get them also - it's metal particles in the air that are "sticking" to the paint. It shows up a lot on white cars.

Heres my Audi after a year. Iron x goes on clear and turns purple while doing it's job.

It's definitely easier to see on white. It's a combination of brake dust and other metal particles in the air that build up on the paint finish.

Iron X or Iron Out will take care of a lot of it, and then a clay bar (or a Nanoskin Autoscrub- synthetic clay bar) will take out the rest.

As others have noted, it's a combination of industrial fallout, rail dust, brake dust, etc. Basically metal flakes that are getting embedded into the clear coat. Use CarPro Iron-X to remove it. Use it outside and be careful not to inhale it. CarPro TRIX does both Iron and Tar, works great for the lower body panels. Be careful on both to avoid any black trim up front as it can stain it. Clay the car after and then hit it with polish to remove the marring from the clay.

It's important for any and all cars to have these contaminants removed as they can and will make their way to eventually contaminating under the clear coat and causing issues later. Rust, clear coat failure, bubbling are all common results you will see occurring if left unaddressed.

Mine is an ibis white S4 and had the same issue. In my case, I didn't have to use any other chemicals and simply clayed the car. One piece of advice is not to use the spray wax/detailer that most clay kits come with, but instead just have a soapy water bucket handy and squeeze out some soapy water on the area you want to clay. It works just as well (the ultimate goal is just to have lubrication, no need to waste the more expensive detailer/spray wax) and it come off with little effort. Just remember to seal/wax afterwards!

I'd say claying isn't necessary for it. As a few have said, IronX is the way to go. This happens to every car, you just don't see it on cars that aren't very light-colored, as well.

Wash your car well, apply IronX to just about the whole thing (spray it like a madman), let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse it off. The car will look like the Good Lord intended.

Appreciate the advise guys, will give the IronX a try. This stuff looks to be pretty awesome based on reviews and what you guys have said.

    Brake dust + white car.

You can use car pro or Adams polish wheel cleaner...their new stuff is blue. Either option I usually dilute it with a little water. Make sure you clean it ALL off when done, don't use it in direct sun light.
