Sunroof opens/closes when tilt control pressed

    Hi guys,

I have a 2010 S4. My sunroof is doing something weird and I could use some help figuring out what's going wrong. The sunroof doesn't open or close when I turn the sunroof knob. However, if I tilt it open, then pull the tilt control to close it and keep pulling on it, the sunroof opens all the way. Once the sunroof is open, pushing on the tilt control will close it, then eventually tilt it open again.

I'd appreciate any thoughts before I take it to the shop. Thanks!

Not sure how helpful this'll be, but I had similar issues in my B6 A4 several years ago. I ended up ordering a replacement (used) sunroof motor from a vendor on eBay and swapping it out with my old motor. This fixed the issue. I imagine the mechanism hasn't changed a ton between the last couple of generations, so if you're out of warranty, you may look into that. I think the used motor was around $100 and it was an easy DIY to swap it out.

Does it open/close using the key correctly?

Seeing as it is still functional I am somewhat doubtful it is the motor.

Maybe the switch? Maybe bad software? (Have you changed anything in VCDS or the hidden menu?)
