Install Direction Of Intake Manifold Gaskets? Up Or Down?

This might sound like a stupid question but I have searched the forum with no luck. I am replacing my intake manifold gaskets and cannot figure out which side is up? I bought the Victor Reinz metal gaskets that have one side raised port edges and the other side flat port edges (top or bottom?). I do not want to install them upside down. They do not have anything written on them but I do not want to ass-u-me. Thanks

Either way is fine, the most important thing is that the mating surfaces are totally free and clear of debris.

Thank you very much! The new aux pump went in nice but I did not see any sign of a coolant leak from the original pump. I checked both rubber hoses and they are in excellent shape. Is there any other place that it could leak?

It could be residual from a previous bleed procedure.

It was quite a bit sitting around the area under the pump. I would have thought that it would have evaporated from the heat?

The water evaporates leaving the glycol

Since the topic is up, has anyone run gaskets other than the metal crush style? I just got some, and they are made out of this style of material:

Not sure what to think of them. Mostly concerned about them blowing out at 30psi.
