Thickness of spacer between center support bearing and vehicle?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
To try and fix a clunk and vibration i Picked up a used driveshaft then replaced enter bearing. Also replaced cv joints/.boots with gkn brand parts. Then brought the driveshaft to a local shop and had it ballanced.

Today installed the driveshaft to find out that between the center support bearing and the body of car wasnuts instead of a spacer. Used some hardend washers to mock up the nuts thickness.

After install the car vibrates worse then it did before so im thinking the thickness is off and the allighnmemt of the shaft is no good.

Any clue on what thickness the missing spacers are? Or different each car?

Assuming you got the center support from 034?

I'd venture a guess at 10-15mm. I had them in my hand somewhat recently so a guess is all I have

Where did you get dimmensnions from?

And thats 20mm as od, 10mm as thickness? And 4mm from id to od? The screw is a 8mm so the id hole cant be 4mm and no way thickness is only 4mm

Those are the correct dimensions. I purchased a couple from Audi for my own car, and those are the measurements.

Ok thanks guys! I just bumped a old thread regarding the driveshaft and bearing shims. According to the bentley suposivly you measure the gap and use a different size shim.(and he was sayong to go smaller shim when in reality youd want to go bigger to take up for gravity dropping shaft?) Or does the reasoning have nothing to do with gravity droping the shaft after removing tool?

So is there realy just a part number or is it going to be different per car / support bearing?
