    Instead of center caps..lug nuts?

So, second set of center caps got nabbed while I was at work. What are my options? Anyone ever get studs and nuts instead? Tired of giving these stupid things away and my lug bolts look cruddy.

Who the hell steals plastic lug bolt caps? Sorry to hear. I did the stud conversion on my B8 and love it, changing wheels is a breeze. Your other option would be to get some chrome or black lug bolts so you don't need caps, check the company McGard.

Really? Coming from ten years of domestic cars, I much prefer the lug bolts on European models. Seems easier to center in on the hub the rotate to match up the holes, rather than fiddling with a giant tire trying to match up all 5 holes with their studs before it slides on.

You're crazy, lug nuts are much better. But I guess its all a matter of opinion. Stud conversion here too.

OP, you'll need 14 to 12 x 1.5mm stud conversion kit and then the lug nuts to go with it. Mine are 63mm long but I'm running 10mm spacers as well.

And what's involved in swapping to studs? Which kit do you guys recommend? I'd like like a black mirrored finish to the nuts maybe

Those things are stupid expensive new and almost every one I see on the road has the silver paint worn off and looks yellow and dingy. I can totally see why someone's stealing them if yours looked good.

I never hated the stock wheels, but I can't wait to ditch them just to get rid of those crappy caps.

wouldn't it be nice to have a 10,000v electrode inside the hole ?

Fortunately ( or unfortuanely ) my original wheels were taken off the car before I bought it, it has the ones from the cab on it, not as nice in my opinion but at least I don't have to worry about the centre caps.

Mine aren't yellow..but the silver has flaked down to a grey-ish color. I am thinking of de capping myself.

    If you're running spacers:

    This

This if you're running up to 10mm spacers

And then the some lug nuts that are 12 x 1.5mm threaded. And then some lug nuts that are 12 x 1.5mm thread pitched.

I've always found the wheel hanger in the trunk to be great asset to overcome most of the pitfalls of wheel bolts, especially with spacers, lining things up can be a PITA.

Studs are much better. They are mandatory in every race league I've been involved in. But that said, don't have them on my b7.

Take the wheels off, screw in studs with locktite. That's it.
