I have a SLine bumper cover installed. I am needing BRIGHT WHITE fogs installed. I have the round housing for the fogs from the 1st build. Can I run HID/horizontal fogs? Is there a way to run them all of the time? Would special coding be required?

Additionally, I would like to install a cost effective splitter. What see my options? Thanks in advance.

you can run Morimoto h11 HID fogs the kit is 150 dollars on retrofitsource. I ran it for many months before getting DTM bumpers. select 35watt option.

And to add to that yes you can run your foglights independently. You will need to have them VAG'd to the "rest of the world". There's plenty of DIY's and tutorials on the VAG-COM coding necessary to program them that way. You may need to manually turn them on though. Others can chime in if they know a way to have them run all the time.

A couple of comments:
1) I'm not sure why you would want your fogs on as DRLs as our cars already have DRL's, and to be honest, fogs as DRL aren't very impressive (opinions may vary).
2) If the Morimoto h11 HID fogs system is just a bulb replacement system - HID replacing the halogen H11 bulb but in the OE housing - I strongly suggest you do not do this. It is incredibly blinding to oncoming traffic. On the other hand if the Morimoto system includes new properly designed reflectors, this would be a viable way to go.
3) Lastly, if you actually want to use the fog lights to see in foggy weather I strongly suggest getting the 3000 degree Kelvin bulb temperature offered by Morimoto. Any hotter (above 3000) will give you a significant amount of glare in foggy weather which defeats the who purpose of fog lights. Let me know if you have any questions (non-product) about the quality or physics aspects automotive lighting as I worked in the field for 10 years early in my career.

Group reply. I am going to look into the Morimoto setup. I am not married to leaving them on all of the time as well.

As long as can run them with the lights that would be great. Maybe getting brighter bulbs in the headlamps is a good idea? I just want brighter without blinding anyone without getting new lenses.

There is no lack of companies willing to sell HID bulbs for any application. What I am saying is that without a properly designed housing (reflector), substituting 35 watt HID bulbs for the H11 halogen bulbs will blind oncoming traffic and will also produce very significant glare for the driver in rainy or foggy weather. If you use the 3000 degree Kelvin HID bulbs that Morimoto advertises the situation will be much better on both accounts. A lot of folks for some reason seem to think they need to match the color of their fog lights and the headlights - it's a cosmetics thing - and end up with white light fogs which are all but worthless in rainy or foggy weather. It's a matter of form over function.

I'm running a 3000k Kensun HID setup for my fogs. Bought the kit from Amazon.com for less than $70 plug and play. Car is lowered and so far hasn't been an issue to oncoming traffic. Although I only run them in foggy/rainy weather. Works even better in snowy conditions with a yellow-ish color.
