    Intercooler hose keeps blowing off

    Hey guys,

I've been having some issues with one of the intercooler hoses in my ECS tuning FMIC kit. The coupler in question is the second coupler that goes from the turbo into the hot side of the intercooler. The interesting thing is that none of the other couplers seems to be having this issue and I changed the clamp from a regular hose clamp to a t bolt clamp but it doesn't seem to have had any effect. After changing the clamp to a t bolt clamp I didn't have any problems for 5-6 months. Could this be a boost spike issue? I have a boost gauge and I can't see any spikes and the car doesn't go into limp mode. Is gradual failure of the n75 a thing? It does have a stage 2+ tune from motoza and after upgrading from the stock intercooler I actually got more boost and boost builds faster than before so I was thinking its probably not an issue with back pressure form the intercooler core. Any ideas?

Tighten the clamp and make sure its not binding, or being pulled/stressed in any way.

Wipe down both your surfaces with some thinners/metho to get rid of any residual oil so you have a clean surface to join with, check your clamp isn't bottoming out also. I had a problematic inlet on the intercooler a while back, I ended up roughing both surfaces up with a little bit of sandpaper after cleaning with a solvent, bolted it back up and it's been perfect ever since.

^That. Was just about to say the oil from the blow by is most likely causing the issue. Not a 100% certainty, but most plausible explanation. And after wiping the surface, use hair spray as like a glue between metal and rubber contact area. Very old school trick.

Make sure your mounts are fine. Excessive engine movement will pull the hoses apart no matter what clamp you use, particularly on FMIC kits that don't have S shaped hoses like stock, which can bend and stretch a great deal.

Remove coupler, clean, light sand w/ 500-800 grit, spray with hairspray upon reinstall, tighten clamps.

Consider a hump coupler to allow more play if needed

wow thanks for all the advice guys, im not sure a hump coupler will work because the pipe has a slight bend in it. Will try scuffing and hair spray and report back.
