Wrapping my b8 S4. Help me with color selection.

Having a hard time making up my mind. Narrowed choices down to 4 colors.

I needed paint work but the quotes are astronomical so I've decided to wrap. I work in the industry so the cost will be 0 just time invested.

I find that 3m has the best metallic's for vinyl and if you don't mind spending the extra 75$ on material I would look for one of their metallic colors as I find they have more depth to them. However, I would go with the gloss grey metallic if these are your 4 choices.

We carry everything 3M, Avery, Orafol and so on. Looking and comparing over the last few days Avery's materials visually are superior. The depth on the glossy metallic gray is amazing. Images here do not justice. In the sunlight it's amazing.

I'm leaning towards the gloss gray.

My vote would be either of the right ones. (The blue on the lower right is my favorite)

I think the blue on the right is really nice, not many blue cars out there I feel it's an underrated colour

Its fruitless to ask anyone other than yourself which one is better. Only your own opinion counts. I would pick the Blue on the left if those were my only options..

What's a ball park price on having an S4 wrapped by an experienced shop?

I'd say that's subjective (Avery vs 3M). They each have shades of metallic that look great, and depending on the application, results will vary.

OP - I know this isn't one of the choices, but I'm going with Avery's Brilliant Blue Matte Metallic (AS909001). After a lot of debate, and seeing one in person, the end result is stunning.

Good luck with whatever choice you go with.

BTW, are you removing the shark fin, star method, or slicing and splicing at the rear?

I vote for the non metallic blue, but I'm always partial to blue.

Depends on your market, but you should be able to get a quote between $2,500 - $3,500. Experience being a huge factor.

An experienced installer should be able to do it in ~20 hours

Shop around. A lot of places quote these high because they lack experience or because certain cars are a PITA to wrap - like a VW Bug - so it takes them a lot longer than it should.

I see you're in Seattle. Let me know if you're serious...

thats pretty much the standard for pro jobs.
you can get materials for around 500 -- if thats a DIY.

theres a guy whos frequent here in AZ, im not gonna say his name since im not getting paid to endorse lol -- dude charges 4800 and this is done in his garage.

i can guarantee youre not gonna find a place thatll do it for less than 3k.

That's really high, I was quoted 3500 including materials from a local reputable shop.

I've been in the industry for over 10 years. When I was wrapping, I used a heated bay at the shop... not to say you cant do it in someone's garage, but its definitely more involved when you don't have a lift and 2 people doing it.

$4,800 for a sedan wrap is rip off! Just my .02

And yes, I can find you someone that will wrap your A4 for 3K... pro job too.

I won't be doing the work myself. I work for a master distributor of the raw materials. We will be using the car in videos and photos for our website.

I can barely apply a decal with issues let alone wrap a car. It take a lot of hands on training (years) to be good.

I've been thinking about getting this done, but the shops that I've seen advertising in local car shows weren't all that impressive. If I'm spending that much money, I want it flawless and last more than a couple years.

OP, I like all those colors, and as one mentioned above, it's your choice. Awesome you get a deal, and just have to invest time to get it done.
