    Apr stage 2-test pipe?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Apr and dealer are telling me different things. One says I need downpipe but no test pipe other says just test pipe/hfc...

Anyone run a test pipe with stock exhaust? I don't want this car as loud as my last one. Getting old.

Stage 2 requires at least an HFC. Test pipe is optional instead.

APR's downpipe includes the HFC/testpipe portion. You only need the actual HFC/testpipe. The true downpipe section isn't needed, but APR sells it all as one piece.

Great thanks. Will it be fairly quiet with just test pipe?

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to ceramic coat the test pipe.

Not at all. Go with an HFC.

Even my HFC definitely increased the sound, but on the stock exhaust it shouldn't be too loud.

My testpipe didn't increase my sound that much. Its noticeable but not bad. You will notice the smell though although its not too bad.

It's so funny, all the different opinions I read about smell with HFC/test pipe. I have a HFCC and I can smell the difference.

My last a4 had test pipe and neuspeed exhaust. Yes, there was some smell but not intolerable or anything.

Just don't want it as loud as my last car. Still kicking around the awe exhaust

How bad is the smell after adding the HFC?? I had a testpipe on my old B6 and ended up taking it off because I couldn't stand it any longer. I know a HFC would be better, but am hoping for zero smell if at all possible. How about the sound increase? I have the APR cat-back exhaust currently. Not looking for any (much) sound increase, just wanting to move up from APR Stage I to Stage II...while not sounding like a ricer every trip I make.

Just took off my testpipe and downgraded to Stage 1. There is defintely a deeper tone and smell with the Test pipe on the stock exhaust alone.

OP, you can safely run a stage 2 tune with a Testpipe alone. Its a slight bump in power from a HFC, Ive had both on both of my B8's. However, If I were keeping my car I'd most likely be going to a HFC option again.
