Talk to me about this 2008 rear seatbelt tensioner thing

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I have a feeler out for my S4 recaros. I heard there is 'something' with the rear seatbelt tensioner on the 2008's but I don't know exactly what that 'something' is.

Does anyone know? is this something that can be coded out with vag com? Does the tensioner 100% have to be swapped? Does it affect the operation of any airbags?

Any and all info is appreciated

2005.5-2007 models had a different tensioner than 2008 models. Those looking to install b7 s4 recaros into the 2008 a4 will have an airbag light. The tensioner must be swapped out with your old one to remove the airbag light. One can also apply a resistor, or possibly even program the system to match the s4 b7 tensioner, saving the hassle of pulling both seats apart.

Unfortunatly I doubt you can do an adaptation, system will trigger a mil if doesnt see the proper resistance. Tensionner swap or put a resistance to trick it.

Danny didnt want to polute your fs thread only wanted to help potential buyers :s

Does this only apply to the rear seat, fronts would be plug and play into an '08 A4?

What about the other way around? 08 S4 seats going into a 2005.5-2007 model? I presume same issue? but again only with the rears? Fronts should be plug and play?

I'm pretty sure my Recaro's are 2008's and my car is an archaic 2005.5 and I have no mil; I could confirm next time I lift one up.

The seat belt tensioner swap is actually quite a bit easier than the bladder swap. I broke the plastic caps on the headrest mounting holes on my stock seat. So I didn't even bother to remove them on the recaro and was able to reach in and unbolt the tensioner just fine. So just ignore that step and other than that initial hassle everything is pretty straight forward, just undo at least three of the sides of the skin. Also I waited to remove the plastic seat belt cover until I had access to the tensioner so I could help ease the plastic out from under intead of only prying it out.

I have no problem swapping the tensioner, and not that I want to spend this kind of money since I can't find in the US, but in the matter of time and not pulling apart the new seats, is this what we are talking about for the resistor fix?
