    Tunes: Which one

Hi everyone - I recently purchased a B7 avant and would like to add some more power. My other car is a BMW n54 with a Cobb tune, and I chose Cobb because they supply you with a handheld device which allows you download your stock ECU map to the device and then upload one of their maps. If one is looking to add a simple stage 1 tune, using a similar device as the Cobb, which one of APR, GIAC, REVO or any others would you recommend.

I have read that with APR you may need to go to a shop to have it installed. That is a dealbreaker for me and have no interest in a limited device like that. Can someone confirm if that's the case? APR also has a mobile device, again, can you do this at home or does a shop need to upload the map?

    Thanks in advance!

So I just called APR and apparently you cannot self-tune and must use a shop. That is ridiculous, is anyone aware of a self-tuning platform as APR was not willing to give up any names?

I thought APR had a home programming cable but can't find it now.

Maybe I was confusing it with this:

Just purchased a stage 1 with TCU tune from EPL and you can do it all at home. Should arrive Wednesday next week. Check therm out. They have a thread going on the boards here. Tony and Chris are great to work with.
