    Mice love my Audi.

A few days ago I was in the garage adding oil to my car (as we A4 owners often do) and I noticed a mouse nest in the space behind my battery. I pulled the car out, removed the nest and set up a live trap in the garage. A couple hours later, I apprehended the suspect and released him in a park two miles from my house. I set up the trap again just in case there were others. To make a long story short, I have caught and released eight mice so far. It's an older detached garage but I'm reluctant to use poison because I don't want the stench of dead mice in there. If this keeps up though, I may have no choice. These frequent trips to the park are getting old!

A 5 gallon bucket of water will save you the trip to the park. Just sayin'

I've used D-Con in the past. Supposedly, it makes them thirsty and they have to venture out for water and often die outside your house. I've found a few dead mouse carcasses here and there over the years, but the haven't been stinky. They're pretty small.

We have a cat but he's pretty useless. He caught a mouse in our basement a couple years ago and he carried it upstairs and dropped it on the bed (still alive) as my wife was reading a book. She started screaming and kicking at the sheets like the guy in The Godfather who found the horse head in his bed. On a positive note, no more mice in the house since then.

You take them to the park? Are you trying to just punish them? I like the 5 gallon bucket idea.

I leave poison in my garage all fall. If I don't, they nest under the riding mower. I never smell them, and rarely see the carcasses. The world will never run out of rodents. Kill the bastards!

poison will dry them out , that's the idea. they smell but for 3 days max and then you just have a dead carcass. don't show mercy , these things can do unbelievable damage to your car , wiring harnesses, interior, etc.

Ditto. One chewed through wiring for my outside air temperature, likely drawn by a leaking rear coolant flange. Get on it, son!

at 8 you have an infestation . just make sure if you have kids/pets you put the poison up high , don't worry , they will find it . Also helps to put a container of water there as it encourages them to eat more poison. I had an infestation in my house, chucked about 10 bags into the attic with a pie plate of water .. gone for 10 years till I moved..

There is a video on youtube about and R8 that a mice ate all the wiring and made a nest in the engine bay and it was a $15k repair they had to pull engine and transmission and re wire the whole car. Lol

When shopping for my B7 about a year ago I responded to an ad for a low mileage (40k) base sedan. From the outside it looked great, under the hood was a different story ..... loads of mouse turds all over the engine compartment. When I pulled the engine cover there was a large mass of nesting material. Saw evidence of infestation in the trunk too and the interior had a funk to it. The seller either had no clue or did not care, I thanked them for their time and moved on.
