hello guys,

i've gotten the track bug. i did two days of hpde with bmwcca boston chapter at new hampshire motor speedway and i'm hooked.
i understand our cars aren't exactly the best candidates for track use, but i'm going to deal with what i got until i have funds for another car
so as of now, my front end is pretty much new within the past year or so.
- b6 s4 servotronic steering rack with the module disconnected.
- 034 density line control arms, replaced all of them under warranty within 9 months a couple new oem ones in there as well.
- meyle hd tie rod ends, and oem inners
-vogtland gt1 coilovers..... not the most aggressive suspension, but they'll do for now.
-oem front sway links.... i know... i was in a pinch and i work at VW... so it's pretty easy fro me to get passat ones.

i've been chasing clunks and rattles forever and they're all gone now.
the car's been alligned by yours truly, i have 2* camber in the back, between 1.5 and 2 in the front and pretty close to 0.05 toe outfront and rear.
this was on a the latest john beam VAS approved allignment rack.

i do have some complaints about the ride quality.
under heavy braking at the track i noticed i could move the steering wheel and the car would continue to brake straight.
i could literally shake it back and forth about 10* and it would have no effect on the car.
at high speeds it likes to tramline, pretty much anywhere over 85mph it starts to pull around and feel unsafe.
the other day, i turned the wheels with the car off... no power assist.
i got back in the car and drove out of the garage. after getting on the street i instantly noticed the steering wheel actually was cocked 15* in the direction in which i turned it. i pulled over and reversed the direction with the wheel and it more or less centered itself.
i'm wondering if this has to do with my steering play
otherwise the steering feels great in the corners, just the on center is weird at high speeds and VERY heavy braking.

are there bushings inside the steering collumn? has anyone experienced worn ujoints that make no noise, but twist under stress? oem steering collumn replacement units are pretty expensive and im not really interested in putting a used one in. just wondering if anyone has any insight on this predicament.
