My bonehead move of the week ..and how i broke my coolant system.

So I replaced the stat and it leaked ... figured it was because of the hard line oring I didn't replace.. I kept getting coolant pooling in the motor mount. took it all apart again and put a brand new oring in the coolant line ... still leaked ... took it all apart again after buying a ridiculously expensive stat oring at the dealer . ( thinking I had cut it while putting it in . )

Well after taking it apart the third time I immediately saw my error.. when you put the coolant pipe on with the oring you put that line on FIRST to the stat. there is a secondary small verticle coolant line you fasten to the same point on the stat. What I had doe is put the vertical coolant line on first THEN put the coolant line to the stat on. This did not allow the oring from the coolant to seat properly in the stat. so problem fixed .. or so you would think ...

I was leaning forward so far I inadvertently leaned on the upper rad connection and broke it off .. grrr...... I got it patched up but would like to fix it . its about 60 bucks or so , but I was wondering if anyone new if this is the same part used on any of the VW motors ? if so I can pick one up at the local wreckers. ( they don't have many audis in there. )

    Thanks guys

Well from what I researched its pretty well 2.0 T only . I broke the nipple off that goes to the coolant tank ( I know sounds painful right ? ) I may tap a metal fitting into the plastic housing and use thread sealer ,, not sure yet .. or I could leave as is .. work but is kinda ghetto . ( I stretched the tubing over the bigger part of the fitting that remained and put a fuel hose clamp on it.
