2006 A4 Cabrio - not closing

Never worked on a convertible top.

Starting to troubleshoot 'roof not closing'.
Starts moving, but stops about half way down. Also sometimes not smoothly coming to a full close.
Motor/pump running.
Sounds like 'low fluid' at the pump if that is possible?

Where to start with troubleshooting the convertible top?
Where are the hydraulic components located (pump, tank)?
If leak (maybe cause for low fluid), what and where are the typical leak points?

So far, only found an oil spot on the driver side cover (where the spring loaded 'strut' would roughly land with top up).

I have VCDS.
Wasn't sure it provides a lot of info regarding the roof. Will plug in and see if anything helpful comes up.

Read and printed this one for general 'parts ID and location' purpose when physical digging in is required.
In my case: motor runs and keeps running, but top not moving (stop half way when opening, takes several tries for the last few inches when closing).

My first guess would be low fluid. Is there are simple check for that? I know it says 'lifetime fluid, no need to fill'. But that is the same terms used for tranny and gear fluid, and lifetime spark plugs.
