ALH/FSI 2.2L Bastard Stroker Build - Help Needed

Okay, before I get into it, I'm a converted TDI guy. I have been wrenching on my B7 Avant for about a year, and studying as much as I can. So far, I'm running an off the shelf JHM 93 Octane Stage 2 tune with all the supporting mods (test pipe, HPFP, FMIC, GFB DV+, CIA, S3 injectors, cat-back, etc).

In my research, I stumbled upon the how to build a bottom end thread. In there, it mentions an ALH crank can be used to build a 2.1L stroker, and the block/crank combo can be used to build a 2.2L stroker. Here the thing; I found a built bottom end from a guy I harvested my HPFP and injectors from. It has stock size forged JE pistons, IE rifle rods, calico bearings, and ARP fasteners (head and crank bolts). The block was professionally resurfaced as well.

What I'm wondering is what is needed to bolt an FSI head to the ALH bottom end, once I balance the crank and move the 2.0T internals over? I'd be planning the 1.8T oil pump conversion as well. I'm just wondering how hard it'll be to get this thing all together? Ultimately, I can do a lot of the tear down/ assembly myself but will need to send the ALH block and crank out for the work they need.

For the time being, the top end will likely remain mostly OEM (maybe a Golf R intake cam). If I'm really ambitious, I'll do the valves and the roller follower conversion, as well as the three angle valve job.

Has anyone built an FSI/ALH bastard/hybrid? When chatting with CanadianA4B7, he mention EPY and MEC might have more info. Lads, can you help? If the bottom end and head mate fairly easily, I'll put it together as a base for a long term project.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers, you crazy bastards!

I've heard the rod to stroke ratio on a 2.2 makes it less than ideal. No personal experience though. I just bored a stock block and left stroke the same.

Thanks for the heads up. I have done a little more searching and realized that as well. There isn't an OEM crank that lol allow a proper rod/stroke ration and the euro??? Whatever the company is called made a batch of turds. That means I have zero use for an ALH block. You know, unless using one with the ALH crank and IE rods will allow me to run a 2.1L displacement without having to run a thicker head gasket or decking the head? I guess I'll have to find the dimensions of the two blocks and figure out cylinder heights.

This is way too much thinking for midnight. Maybe I should just balance the ALH crank and buy the thicker head gasket while using the stock block. I mean, it's in great shape. Less than 1200km before the car was visited by a deer...
