Probably should've waited until after this announcement to buy my RS5 but it's been fun the couple months so whatever. I'm excited to see new look regardless.

Your RS5 wasn't an investment, it was a good deal on a screaming V8 to remember. I like to see the weight reduction of the new body for sure, but the rest I'll wait to comment on, wheezy turbo's and all ;)

I am almost certain I wont like the new design. Look at all the other models, lifeless and no character at all. Does it look....sharp and clean? Perhaps but it might be time to jump ship =(

Interested in seeing the interior. I imagine it includes the iPad taped to the dash look :(

I bet it will look pretty much like the current version with straighter lines just like the A3/A4.

    A sunroof that slides open...even halfway....wishful thinking.

Maybe the mid cycle refresh will bring it all together.

After two years on the road nothing else pulls at my heart so I should be good for a while.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, I'm sure the guys in the R8 section were saying the same remarks about the rework....and look how amazing the new car looks!

Quite excited to see what they do with the RS powerplant too, turbo or supercharger.

I'm anxious for the results as well. It'll look very similar to the current generation, which isn't a bad thing. Regardless, I am sure I will trade for it once my current car runs its course for me.

I am sadden at the loss of the S/C 3.0 engine though because I like to tinker with my cars. I enjoy the instant, linear, and natural power curve of the current gen S/C 3.0t at higher than stock boost levels, which will disappear with the newer turbo 3.0t once you go beyond stock boost levels.

I hope the details of the RS5 will follow directly after, I would love to see the specs of the twin-turbo V6 engine and to see if it's a similar engine to the Macan S or Turbo model. I heard a Panemara test vehicle with the TT V6 on my recent trip to Stuttgart (they drive at least 3 test vehicles throughout Stuttgart where it became a common site to see them in action), sounds pretty good IMHO.

I always hate refreshes and new models but they grow on me big time after a year. Hated b8.5 until I got mine. Hopefully they squared the car up more and made fenders even more pronounced :)

I'm ready for some interor tech upgrades. Painfully obvious my 15 8.5 is way behind the curve in this capacity when you see the new TT/Q7/A4 and competition.

To me the most exciting part is the loss of the 3.0SC while it was a stable power plant and certainly an upgrade over the 4.2, its capacity was still so limited. The Turbo platform will offer so much more in just a few stages, and even the linear power curve can be adjusted for that you hope to keep. Most importantly big power levels should be more possible than were on the sc for less than the 10k supercharger upgrade. Theres promise and remorse to be had, but I welcome the announcement even if I believe its late.

The RS is getting a TT V6 for the motor. As far as weight reduction goes, tough to say. The B9 A4 is lighter than the previous gen, but a German Audi employee from the B9 A5 "Product Team" said that after all the US spec equip, etc., the savings won't be drastic.

    To put it in perspective:

B8 A4 2.0T curb weight for US spec: 3,693 lb

B9 A4 2.0T curb weight for US spec: 3,626 lb

    Teaser of LED's:

I saw the new A5 this morning in camouflage in River Edge, NJ the headlights look similar to the A4. I wasn't that impressed, it looks like the B8.75 and not a B9.

    additional comments from the article:

Slightly larger yet lighter than the outgoing model, the 2017 Audi A5 Coupe will probably go on sale this fall and will be followed shortly by the S5. The spicier version will make use of Audi’s newly developed turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 354 hp (260 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm). A full-blown RS5 Coupe will join the lineup likely in the second half of 2017. Rumors say it will use an evolution of the V6 with e-turbo tech that will bump output to about 480 hp (353 kW).

The current s is no slouch, and I didn't call it one. It is however quite terminal. The SC deems it so. In the realm of FI the the Turbo always has an upper hand in absolute power as it has no parasitic drag. The other big benefit being that a turbo can spin till its hearts content or capacity whereas the SC is mechanically limited. All that aside thats just subjective. The new Motor has even more promise than simply SC or Turbo, and with that a tune already brings the power up with no need to touch anything mechanical. Run out the stock mill, swap it for pennies on the dollar compared to a full charger. Repeat.

why the hell don't they put a damn v8tt in the car, man?

This v6t stuff does not belong in an 80k car. That belongs in the S and TT models. Why do they cut the balls off of a car that could be insanely awesome?

I was hoping for that... But then again I think we all knew better. It would go right at the throat of their beloved RS7 and as much as I love them, the RS5 will look so much better doing it.

Even though it won't happen, I wish the A5 was a v6 standard. This car is too big and cool for a 4 banger.
They did it right initially in 2008 by making it a 3.2L only. The 2.0T came afterwards.

Yeah, the 2.0T is tunable, but IT HAS SUCH A WEAK SOUND.

$2000 AWE exhaust still makes the 2.0T sound weak.

because the world is going with fuel efficiency .. Turbo's give the illusion that cars can get excellent gas mileage when tests are conducted out of boost and below 3000 rpms .. so v6's are going turbo 4 's... v8's are going v6 Turbo's and v10's are going v8 turbo's .. they all can give the illusion of 30+ mpg .. i remember reading some where that soon they are going to federally mandate cars must make 30 mpg or better.. so automakers are cheating with turbo's now

My 12 is just out of warranty and didn't want to wait another year + for what will be an 18. I happen to really like the 8 and 8.5 and the standard comp + is just an added bonus. I work for Audi and get a sizable discount so probably do a 24mth lease then get the next Gen.

I'm wondering ... based on nothing more than projected HP figures ... if the new S5 won't be found sitting on dealers lots subject to bigger than expected discounts just to move these units. Compared to the (projected) figures of the C43 coupe (362 hp), the E43 coupe (396 hp), and the Q60 coupe (400 hp) ... Audi is going to be leading from behind.

The new tech might be enough to be a competitor and plus Audi underrates the hell out of their numbers

I enjoyed the b7 vs S8 motor trend video where the B7 had the S8 by 60 hp but crushed it in every test so they decided to dyno them and the S8 was more hp at the wheels than Audi said at the crank

why would they put a twin turbo v8 in the car.

when you have 6 cylinder cars like the m4, 911 and gt-r outperforming pretty much everything else in that price bracket, there's absolutely no reason to put an 8 cylinder engine in a heavy ass awd performance car. audi's priority with the b9s should be weight reduction above anything else.

    But the sound!!!!!

I really hope Audi blows everyone away with that rumored twin turbo V6.

The bigger cars like the S7 and up should still keep the V8

Did not read, but any dates on the S5 SB Tommy? I've not asked in a while.

Also, please send me S3 lease rates sometime.
