    Seat upholstery question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone gotten their seats reupholstered or upgraded the bolster part? I know for a fact our seats are not comfortable for a lot of us and I'm convinced the seat bolsters aren't supportive at all. I'm considering reshaping the bolsters to give it a more hugging feel and potentially make it a cheaper alternative to getting recaros.

Any opinions to this and whether it's a good viable option?

My back pain has improved ever since I stopped driving it work.

You can definitely have them reshaped. They'll cut new foam and rewrap them in new vinyl/leather. They might be able to modify the existing skin and add to it which would be the cheapest alternative. Probably a couple hundred bucks to get it done. Now to rewrap it in Leather is not cheap though. I'm getting my recaro's redone and it's like 2,500 for just the fronts in full leather with alcantra inserts. Probably cheaper to just get a set of new seats in vinyl than to custom modify seats in full leather.

Our seats aren't full leather, the bolsters specifically are vinyl, I don't think there is any way to reshape them without ruining them.

But yea, I agree, our seats kinda suck. Mine definitely don't cause me any back pain. You sure you've got it adjusted correctly? Is the lumbar support still functioning?

Yup everything functions fine, my commutes to work were an hour and fifteen each direction and that's when I was really hurting. Definitely lack of support. I've tried so many settings of the lumber, even tried setting them up like deep buckets by reclining and setting the front of the seat higher to relieve pressure off feet. Googled and schmoogled no luck. I'm in an QX60 or a QX4 as my second and third car and it has made a world of a difference.

I'm looking to upgrade soon to a C7 A6 or S6 for the right price and worry about the same again. S6 should be fine though hopefully

Why go through the trouble on a car you're planning to upgrade anyway?

Have you consider just doing seat tradzies with this guy? The S4 recaros are significantly different than the stock A4 seats. I would think this would be less hassle overall:

Because I will be keeping the car most likely.
