    Unplugged my Soundaktor today.

I found a thread from 2012 taking about the soundaktor and decided to pull the fuse today and test it out. What a difference!

Obviously the sound is a lot quieter, but it's nice to actually hear what the engine / exhaust sounds like without artificial engine sound.

The soundaktor literally plays sound files based on the RPM's of the car. While I like the noise it makes, fake sound doesn't sit right with me in a performance oriented vehicle.

I think this has just moved a new exhaust up the priority list, although may try to install an X Pipe first.

It's the 5th fuse on column A, in the fuse panel located on the drivers side. The fuse location is well explained in the manual.

Be warned, there is a good chance it's going to make you want to upgrade the exhaust. I'm Ordering the Magnaflow 19238 axle back this week.

You guys need to check out the S4 and SQ5 side. You'll probably find a bunch more crap to do that you'll like.

Pulling the fuse will throw a soft code but turning it off with Vag won't.

To mute the Soundaktor (as an alternative to pulling the fuse):

A9 Structure Borne Sound (in my car, this was in the second Installed tab, not the first one that's shown by default)
    Adaptation 10
At Channel drop down choose "Volume of structure borne noise actuator" (only choice)
Enter a value in the proper box (0% = mute :))

Whoah....I thought the TFSI SQ5 had a valve to allow more exhaust directly out the cat back....but I don't think SQ5 uses artificial sound files. Thats for the TDI.

Yes it was 100 originally. I heard 50 won't work.

I discovered the Soundaktor recently when I was installing a relay under the rain tray...I never knew that this existed. This explains why I could clearly hear the relay from inside the cabin. I just turned it off with VCDS. I am running a Milltek exhaust with K&N air filter in a modified factory airbox so I’m interested to see how different she sounds now...tomorrow morning.
