    Exhaust tip pitting

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Definitely pitting on the exhaust tips, the finish is deteriorating. Not a wear part, but not covered.
My dealer took pics and they are willing to put new tips for +/- $100 for labor.

Should I get the original black or the chrome tips?
Personally, the black tips get lost visually and I would like to jazz up the look of the rear end.
    What are your thoughts?

I say go black. I had them on my RS5 and they looked great...clean and stealthy. Going against what your looking for (jazz up the look), but they still look good.

Did you lower the car yet with the GMG springs I sold you?

You try the ceramabryte oven cleaner on them? This can make a world of difference on removing pitting and carbon.

S4V8: haven't installed them yet; do I need adjustable control arms too?

Atmmac: I just clean them with regular car wash soap and saw the actual pitting, material coming off. I know its a trim piece that should not have contact with anything.

No, you don't need adjustable control arms. I would actually recommend adding 10mm spacers all around to give it that nice, flush look.

Just went to the audi dealer today and showed them the chipping on my black exhaust.. They took some pics, and told me they needed to send the pics to audi canada . . A few hours later i got a call, and they will replace the both black pitting tips under warranty. It is definetly not wear and tear, so thankfully hey are replacing them!

I got chrome tips instead of black, this time.
Congrats, Caroline. Glad Audi did right by you.

I like the way that looks, if I had the exhaust on mine, I'd happily put these exhaust tips on. W/o the exhaust, I'd probably try to remove the Capristo signature, just wouldn't seem right to me. BTW, What's going on w/ your wheels ?

What's the cost of the chrome tips? Mine are starting to wear a bit and the polishing doesn't do much so far.

Agree completely about the chrome it makes a much better impression overall

Which Cerama Bryte product do you recommend? I don't see a specific product on their website labeled "oven cleaner".. Thanks

Audi replaced the exhaust tips under warranty on my '15 RS5 this week. We'll see how long these hold up. Car only has 15k miles on it. Doubt they made any improvements to the coating.
