    A4 riding rough - misfire?

    Hi All,
I have a 2004 A4 1.8T that just started flashing the check engine light over the weekend. I have a few suspicions about the cause and wanted to ping the group before sending it in to the shop. The car is running rough with a significant reduction in power and sputters when given a little gas. I've popped the ignition coils and can see oil in the bottom of the spark plug holes so I'm thinking the valve cover gasket is shot. Does this sound right? If so should I replace all the coils and plugs? Any tips for swapping it out the gasket? (I'm tempted to tackle it myself) Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like your problem right there my buddies colbalt ss did the same thing, I ended up replacing his valve cover gasket and replacing the plugs and coils. It's ran fine since. What codes are you getting?

I haven't plugged it in yet since I don't own the diagnostic equipment. My mechanic charges 90$ to diagnose so I was trying to avoid it. Thanks for the feedback.

Try auto zone or a place that will pull codes for free
