Doing brakes on my wifes car, front inner pads have arrows on the back and the old ones are worn off. just wanna verify that these indicate the rotation of the rotor? Thanks fellas

The inner pads, that fit against the caliper piston have a guide spring that fits into the piston, the outer pads have only a shim plate on the back of the pads. Pads do not have a specific rotation of the rotor, since the pads only fit one way as either the inner or outer pads.

I found the answer to my question, but thanks for responding anyways. According to the B5 A4 and the S4 bentley, brake pads with arrows on them should point towards direction of rotation of rotor when traveling forward. I would say it's safe to assume that this applies to B6 as well.

Thats new to me, Never seen directional pads before. Typically, there are two inner pads and two outer pads that fit either side.

I've never seen directional pads for a B6 but there are some VW applications that are directional. Clicky click® I wonder how often they get installed wrong?

Just replaced Posiquiet ceramics on my '03 last night, and they did not have directional arrow indicators. My little brain can't even understand where the mechanical advantage would be with brake material. I do remember rotors can be directional for cooling vane purposes..

The pads I installed are primarily a B5 application pad but fit the B6 as well.. funny you should mention this, I cleaned the old inner pads and found the arrows as I was curious to see if the audi dealership that installed them put them on the right sides.. turns out the inner pads were on the wrong side, and along with that they failed to lubricate the slide pins which I'm assuming caused this wear

Rears are fine. No need to replace.
