    Question A4 vs S4 vs A6

    Hey everyone,

Recently I have grown to like the Audi lineup. I previously had my sites set on a Porsche Cayman S but the interior is just too bland for what I can afford.

I have a budget of approximately $25k and have been looking at the A4, S4, and the A6. I am really torn between all 3. I have always owned sports cars so the thought of getting anything close to a family car wouldn't work. I am thinking the S4 would be best for the extra power.

I am however worried about the extra maintenance that may come with an S model. It seems logical to draw the conclusion that more power=more problems. I am probably looking at something in the mileage range of 30-50k miles and I can't find many CPO so it would be private party.

Those of you that may have experience with these 3 models or with higher mileage Audis. Can you please advise me. I am okay with DIY maintenance and problems but I don't want to have severe problems like the IMS bearing on a Cayman.

I really just need something professional looking and not a total downer to drive. I never take clients in my car so the backseat is not a huge deal to me. Most clients like to drive themselves in this day and age. It will be an automatic just for the simplicity around the city in traffic.

    Thanks in advance!

You want a fast car that isn't going to kill you maintenance wise? Skip Audi, which is not cheap to maintain as it gets older. The A4 and A6, for the most part are not too sporty unless modded. Which S4 are you looking into? A used B7 S4 with the 4.2 V8 is a potential ticking timebomb. B6s and B5s are going to be hard to find in good condition. B8s might be out of your price range.
