034 vs rev motoring silicone intercooler hose kit. same quality?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

Looking to get a new set along with a bigger intercooler. Does anyone know if there is much difference in quality between the two other than price? 034 is $270 with clamps & shipping, where as Rev Motoring is $150 shipped with clamps.

That's a huge difference in price.

    Thanks

034 is stiffer than the Rev Motoring. Both supposed to be 4 ply iirc but I can fold the rev but cant with the 034. Oem might be stiffer with less chances of colapsing than the Rev motoring imo

That would be collapsing to the outside..ie becoming larger in Dia. All this is mainly under p.pressure.. turbo>I/C>intake is in positive pressure not vacuum. Not being picky at all Axis, your post just started me thinking.I have reinforced in part the I/C system on my my Ford ute (in my signature below) as the shitty OEM tubing def. not silicone and prob. polyurethane tends to expand with increased boost pressure,I watched mine on the dyno and at 14psi it gained about 10% volume !! .I could just about press one side to the other-not whilst on the dyno though lol ..so a great quick fix was -Gorilla tape and it even handles the under hood temperatures very well.
So the cheap mod may not be too bad at all depending on the boost....( and his budget )

    These video show colapsing hoses.

I have the Rev, the 034 and the oem in hand. The oem hoses are probably safer to run than the Rev Motoring.

    Axis -

I think the turbo inlet hose collapsing is different that the intercooler piping collapsing.

Why would the intercooler be under the same vacuum as the intake to the turbo? Wouldn't after the turbo be under boost not vacuum?

Agreed, but I'm pretty sure these kits come with the tip. I was really deceived with the quality of the Rev Motoring product.

I installed the Rev motoring hose kit in February and have had no issues aside from one of hoses popping off due to a loose clamp. My original hoses were beat, especially the hose on the turbo itself. I'm not doubting Axis's claim that new OE hoses might be more firm than Rev's, but for my application(stock turbo, no tune) they've proven to be more than adequate...providing noticeably more power than with worn stock hoses.

Sorry but hoses aren't going to provide any noticeable power ever! The only time hoses and power come together is if one is torn or disconnected and leaking boost

If you have noticeable hose expansion across the length of your hoses, then you would lose quite a bit of pressure.

ok, so should I just stick to my OEM hoses for the new ER SMIC that I plan on getting? My baby is 11 years old now and has original hoses.

Quite a statement coming from someone who isn't driving my car. I did clearly state that my old stock hoses were worn. They were soft, spongy and definitely prone to expansion under boost pressure. For $150, I got a set of perfectly fitting silicone hoses that are obviously stout enough to resist expansion under pressure and yield the "noticeable" improvement I referred to.

And Avant4me, I've been planning on attending a Md/NoVA meet sometime this season. If you happen to be attending and are willing to meet up, I'll gladly let drive the car and come to your own conclusion. No ill will here, man.

I found the rev motoring ones to be a good replacement for my aging 170K mile old stock hoses. I've been using their turbo inlet pipe for about 4 years now also.

I went and compared the rev intercooler hoses against some vibrant and mishimoto silicone couplers and hoses on some race cars sitting in the shop. Keep in mind these are used on mostly 8 and 9 second race cars, 1000hp, upward of 40psi boost pressures. These aren't daily drivers but they see way more punishment and abuse then most cars. I see no difference in quality without any true scientific tests. They were all 4 ply reinforced, all had the same pliability. I really see no issues with the rev motoring ones.

IMHO, I wouldn't go out of my way to upgrade to them or the 034 hoses unless your current oem hoses were in rough shape.
