I agree, you got a serious car, race a liter bike, hayabusa, zx14... Anything under 1000cc is not going to be competitive in a straight line

    My .02 on the bikes:

    1) yes the rider -- i won't say sucks-- but is nowhere near good. those shift times are hillarious. and not even close to a wheelie on the get go? lol. Squid.
    2) it's quite possible that car is faster than the bike, although I share the above skepticism. that said, a good rider on pretty much any stock competitive sport bike is running in the 9s (average rider would be 11s to 13s).

750's aren't that fast on a roll... Above 60 mph they just don't have the power to get away from a fast car.

Liter bikes are a completely different story of course.

i dunno about that man. change the sprocket size, down 1 front up 2 rear, and the thing will wheelie in 3rd gear just by tagging it. Had an 01 gsxr 750 for 10 years. thing popped a wheelie going from 3rd to 4th gear if you shifted properly.

I love bikes and cars... always fun to shock riders with my car and I'm not that fast like some cars out there! Also lots of fun riding my bike and keeping up with bigger bikes because I know where to keep the engine.

The bike is a 10 sec bike... not a slouch. But it will run out of gearing and speed earlier than the car will. Also, aerodynamics start to kill the bike the faster it goes.

well it's a confirmed 9 second bike for a great many riders, stock engine. 9.3-9.8.

What set me to argue was the fact that they launched from around 40-70mph. that's first gear territory or low 2nd gear depending on your gearing -- which is easily wheelie territory for that bike without any stunting tricks whatsoever. The bike lost 2 car lengths on the launch, then ate back half a car length later in the gear. before losing half a car on each shift. The biker's riding position is terrible, the shifts are abysmal, and his launch was godawful.

I'm not a bike guy at all so no sure how popping a wheelie relates to a bike being fast, also I'm purely talking about roll racing here. But I've raced many, and 600's are complete sleds and 750's generally are not much better when on the highway. Starting around 60-65 mph they simply don't have enough power to overcome their massive drag co. deficiency. So if you have a good rider, maybe the bike will hang with that initial hit in the starting gear, but then it's over. Of course I'm talking about 500-550+whp cars here.

If the bike has a bad rider then absolutely it will be even worse...

You're not wrong. And like i said his car may well be faster. but there's about 2.5 car lengths lost directly due to rider mistakes that I can identify in the video. Honestly it looks like he was throttling back before the last shift and even after on that final gear, so there may be even more in it.

For bikes: wheelie is the limit of speed, rather than traction -- at least before the engine becomes the limiting factor, which shouldn't occur below 80mph on anything above a bone stock 600. so if you aren't barely lifting the front, you're not at the limit. first gear goes to 70 or 80mph on most sport bikes, and almost all of them will flip you on your back if you don't lift throttle, at the very least for first gear. Then if you mod the sprocket size, depending on how much you change the gearing, 2nd gear or even 3rd gear will also wheelie by pure throttle application.

but I think Diesel had it right. 'aww fuck it, that car hauls ass'.

an example of an amateur on a stockish 750. think he says 2nd time to the track. Probably running an auto-shifter to prevent wheelies or conversely shift times. Notice how the bike

    1) doesn't dive between shifts like in monty's video (manually shifting you might err on the side of wheelies between shifts, at least i do).
    2) you're fighting a wheelie til 70/80mphs
