Hey guys, been having a clunk sound hitting dips in the road. Can hear it coming from driver side front and I can feel it in the petal.

Anyone have any techniques on finding these?

Previous owner put upper and lower control arms, motor and trans mounts about 15k miles ago.

Can't replicate the problem by giving the engine torque or abruptly stopping. Just driving slow and hitting dips will replicate it.

The only thing I've been able to spot was what looks like worn control arm bushings. Do these look bad enough to cause a clunk???

Not sure if it's your clunk but it looks worth replacing... I had some worn out bushings in another car that gave me a real hard and miserable clunk before. Had to get someone to walk beside the car as I slowly drove over a bump over and over in order to find it.

In for info. I've had that same thing since I bought the car (3 years ago). I'm almost positive its strut mounts.

I was thinking strut mount but didn't want to believe it. Oh well if it is shouldn't be too hard of a job. Proactively bought a spring compressor in case.

Going to make sure everything is tight related to steering and suspension. If that fails, going to see if my rack and pinion is loose. If that fails, I think I'll entertain the strut mount idea since it's cheap.

If you say you can feel it through your floor/pedal, I'll say its the same issue as me and not a rack and pinion. If it was.. well my car wouldnt have lasted 3 years with it haha

Upgrade to 034 mounts too. Might as well.

Have 034 motor and trans mounts already. Unless you're taking about control arms/bushings

So today I was able to recreate the sound by simply pulling up on the fender and making the car bounce. Doesn't take much. It is coming from the firewall area on the driver side. It's def strut or rack related. Just need to dig into it this week or next week. Will try tightening strut bolts and rack bolts first before I do anything. If no go I'll just pull the coilover and replace the strut mount bushing.

Nice. Thanks bud. I'll get the 034 instead. I think they'll last longer since they are harder.

No problem! Thats exactly what i figured lol maybe tighten things up a lil too. (I cant say if they did tighten anything up knowing i replaced shocks and stuff at same time so it was stiffend up by going oem to bilstein shocks for sure)

I had the same issue and I'm pretty sure it's the upper spring seat where the strut mount sits, or it could also be your strut mount. I got the 034's as well along with these https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/aud...per-8d0412065d and there is no added NVH.

If you're going to get new mounts you might as well grab the spring seat as well, it's gonna suck to pull it all only to find that the seats are broken.
