Is anyone else bothered by the rear turn signals? The combination of the top sequential light and the lower steady blinker drives me insane.

I really wish it was just the upper blinker. Am I alone on this?

    You're alone (no offense)
    The sequential is definitely cool

Several of us with 2017 Q7s are trying to figure out how to make them do it (my wife thinks it's cool that her 2017 A4 does it & my 2017 Q7 won't.....)

Haha I know I'm nuts. I'm a web designer so I tend to notice little details like that.

I agree the sequential is cool, it just bothers me that it goes together with another light that doesn't flash in sequence

The real question is when will Rosstech release an update to VAGCOM to handle these changes.

You're definitely not alone, it bugs me too, in Europe they are just the 'dynamic light' with no lower block and I agree it becomes too much bringing to focus on. I'm sure there will be coding to disable the brake light blinking during a turn signal

^THIS! DavidB8 did my tails because stuff like that bothers the sh1t out of me also!! Make it clean, why go to the bother to have 2 lights that don't even match or compliment each other? It doesn't look good. I was following one the other day and that's the very 1st thing I noticed. USA/NA really needs to get their arse in the modern age and update their auto lighting codes/laws!

I agree. Looks odd the way they have it programed.

Does someone know if the rear turn signals can be modified or changed to a AMBER colour?

I do not like red turn signals and prefer amber ones because I think they are more visible and also allow for the brake light on the same side to be available. Some cars/trucks like Fords lose the brake light on the side of the active turn signal... Totally stupid IMHO.

Not alone, it looks wrong they way it is. I want ours to work like the EU ones. I think I'd almost prefer top not be sequenced and just flash like the lower part if we can't have the lower part disabled.

Is this data from Audi's system in a service dept or elsewhere?

Have been talking about getting into the BCM2 module on the B9 for a little, but haven't had a car to work with yet.

I agree, the american cars do it as a cost saving tactic. audi should not and does not need to resort down to that but I think it was some dumb regulation reason

    Cheers,
That's from VAG CAN PRO, they just added a config file for the B9 BCM2. It's for a higher or different sw index though (8W0907064AL instead of 8W0907064AC), that's the only reason why I didn't try it yet, not interested in a $1000 repair for a 4 weeks old car. Feel free to PM me if you like more details.

Interesting. I assume the software/hardware was VCP (Vag Can Pro) correct? I haven't had a chance to play with that, but have heard it's a nice program and has some more abilities than VCDS.

I'm curious to see if those adaptation values can just be changed one by one like in the 8V models or the B8 models. That way you wouldn't need to load a whole set of values and just change the turn signal outer brake light activation.

    Thanks!

You are correct, VCP or VAG CAN PRO. I guess it all depends on when the login code is released to the public, right now the code is encrypted in the zdc, as is what this config really does, there are several different configs which may be different layouts, a before an after channel map would hint where the bits are.

Sounds like this could be a bit easier to solve than other models which would be nice.

That is a good plan on doing an admap before and after, as long as VCP inputs the security code so all the channels can be seen. Have you run an admap yet to see what the values look like?

I got the channel map with HEX-NET/VCDS, not sure if I got all channels though (i got about 350), still have to figure out how to do this with VCP. I posted the map at http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthre...ll=1#post60426. Parametergruppe 1 to 10 looks like the likely location for the secret, unless there is a channel that I didn't get because of a missing login.

Maybe I will spend some more time with this on the weekend. How many BCM did you guys brick when trying to make this work on the 8K?

Never bricked a module myself. I had DavidB8 do all of the adaptations for kits produced here and had customers deal directly with him. Eventually the security codes made their way out onto the forums and when I had mentioned that to him he became fairly upset, though he already become hard to reach and rely on to code kits. At that point he disappear essentially from the community so I decided to map everything out myself using the Allroad here. I gathered up every adaptation value I could find and tested each one to build a master list. Then I mapped out each channel to each wiring pin on the BCM2. This allowed me to make custom adaptations for every taillight kit and then continued to develop for the B8, Q5 and C7 owners.

As for those huge values in the parametergruppe, could be, but that's a lot of info for one taillight function. Though maybe it's grouped together instead of being split up into loads of channels like the 8V models.

Using VCP the taillights can be programmed properly. There are a few kits available here:

    A4, S4, Allroad B9 | 16+ Lighting

If you have any questions do let me know here or via PM/email: [email protected]

    Cheers,
Can I at least use OBDeleven to code the OEM US tailights to not blink the brake light while signalling?

I want to upgrade to the amber tails, but for now, if I can code this with OBDeleven, then I can live with this for a while.

Unfortunately even with VCP (Vag Can Pro) setting the parameters to the Rest of World with North American taillights installed you cannot separate the brake and turn signal. They are internally connected inside of the North American taillight so the Rest of World (European) taillights are required, wiring on the outer lights and then using VCP to set the proper parameters. Sadly no way around the full setup to get rid of the annoying brake light tied to the turn signal. Thanks Audi

    Cheers,
Thank you for letting me know. I guess I'll just have to wait and save my money to get the real thing.
