I'm looking to go stage 1 tune on my b8 a4. Is there a preferred go-to place to get this done? A certain place quoted me $825 Cad. Does this sound pricey? Do any shops ever have a sale? Cheers

K&H is a hole in the wall but Mario is a good guy and knows APR products well.

I have had my S4 flashed there many times...

You can also try Mittler Motors in Newmarket. They're keen with APR on all platforms and do JHM on the V8 cars. Might be worth chatting with them.

Eurosport in Oakville is an APR dealer. I'm getting my APR Stage 2 done with them next week and my experience so far has been positive.

I'll second that. Great place to get parts without paying the cross border charges.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Now I've been doing lots of reading on going stage 2. From the looks of it, stage 2 disables the rear 02 sensor error when installing a hfc. Will this still get me to pass emissions inspection and not throw any codes or dash lights? Thinking about 034 motorsports catted pipe. I am kind of missing the performance of my old ride.... 2002 Subaru Wrx that was running a stage 3 vf-34 turbo ultimate racing tune with all supporting mods.

Yes, stage 2 is mapped to compensate for the extra air flow from the HFC and deletes the O2 cel.

You'll pass emissions just fine. The 034 hfc is a great product. Ive had it in my car for about 5 yrs now and no issues at all.

If you want performance, I highly recommend not going with APR. It's a very mild, conservative tune compared to JHM or Unitronic. Do some reading on the JHM tune, its currently the quickest of the bunch with the best times. Better bang for your buck

I have tuned 2 AUDI's this far with Jim and he is amazing. The first was a Highly Modified TT with Stage 3 tune which was like a go cart after he finished. Secondly was an A4 with a simple Stage 1 in it. Now my Q7 is going in for a tweak. Jim will take whatever time needed to get the tune to run in your car. His knowledge of the computers is second to none.

His telephone number is 416 893-9959. He is in the Finch and 400 Area of Toronto

I am just now starting the search myself guys, but here's what I'll say so far; every single APR dealer here in the GTA overquoted me, by a FAR margin, on a K04 tune. The only ones that were fair and reasonable were Mittler, and Eurosport, which I will be going with.

    Hey guys,

Just wanted say that i just had stage 2 done on my 2012 S4. Wow! What a difference. I went with Unitronic. I had Mittler Motors install the puley and then Pfaff flashed the software.

If you have a B8 S4 i would recommend this.

Other tunes like Unitronic and GIAC you lose if your battery dies or gets disconnected guys...Don't know why anyone would bother with that hassle, unless they are themselves a dealer and can reflash themselves at home. I can't make appointments every time I lose my flash....

    APR is permanent.

So it is looking like I may be going with APR stage 2. Does anybody have any experience with the 034 Motorsports High flow cat? Will this cat and stage 2 pass emission here in Ontario? If not, I guess I will settle for stage 1.

I passed with a JHM test pipe on my B7. They don't do anything other plus it into the machine and check for sensors that fail or aren't ready. If you get an MIL, just add an O2 spacer in the downstream O2 sensor bung.

Doesnt st2 take out the second sensor so it reads not ready? Thought this would be a problem.

Thanks for all of the support guys!

Regarding the stage 2 and passing emission, when we program most cars it give us an option for stage 2 program with HFC or Test Pipe, if you go with the HFC the car will still pass emissions, if you go with the Test pipe file the car will not pass emission as the rear O2 sensor is not in a ready state. On some cars you can get away with running a Test Pipe and spacer for the rear O2 sensore along with the HFC file. Personally I would stick with a HFC as running a car with only a test pipe really stinks!

I have first hand knowledge and whole heartedly disagree with your last statement. You'd never even know mine is test piped and turbo backed with your nose. Your ears, on the other hand, are well aware it's slightly less than OEM.
