    Sheered blot head ideas

    Hey guys and gals,

    I was doing my sway bar end links last weekend, and when taking the lower bolt out of the passenger side, the head sheered off. I've tried easy outs, acetelyne welding torches for thermal shock, and trying to drill the bolt out, but it doesn't want to budge. Any ideas?

    Sound like you tried everything. Have you tried a reversing bit? It is normally for stripped screws.

    do you have a welder
    you can put a nut over the end and weld it to the bolt

    You're gonna have to go with the welding idea. Or maybe just go for a sway bar upgrade?

    That's doable.

    Would be best if it could be pulled off the car first. In that case, you could drill out the core and shove a giant bolt out bit in there.

    This is prob in the area of a 30mm bolt length, make sure you get in there all the way with the drill, step up size until you catch the bolt and it starts to spin out.

    Don't just use 1 single drill bit, step up sizing, but be careful not to cut the threads of the sway bar.

    If you do get the threads its not the end of the world. You would then need to Tap a new thread in the sway bar, (Tap and Die) and new bolt for the sway bar end.

    This worked. 10 bucks for a tap kit was way cheaper than the 100 for a new sway bar, thanks all! My clicking went away when I turn too. :)
