Mirror Cap Removal Help!

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? I've followed the tutorials, removed all of the screws, tabs, etc. For some reason I just cannot get the mirror off. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Also, does the tab on the front side of the mirror need to be pushed before the cover comes off? I have not pushed that tab in as it's not visible. At this point I'm close to just sawing it off

Wow. No I did not. In all of the threads I've read I've never seen this posted. It looks like they use a slightly different approach. I'm going to attempt this again tomorrow. Thanks

I replaced mine a month or two ago. You really have to muscle it. I thought I was going to break every tab on the thing getting it off but suprisingly nothing broke.

The ECS instructions are good but they forget to mention to remove the two upper screws also next to the tabs. Luckily I found the Audi enthusiast instructions also and figured it out. Here's a pic of the top screws you'll need to remove (red circles) also along with ones on the bottom (red arrows). Those caps are on there pretty tight so you'll have to use some force on them. GL

I have removed mine a few times and the amount of force needed is crazy, like others I though for sure I was going to break something but alas everything was fine.

I finally ended up getting them on. Once I took a different approach it was much easier. I think my main issue was I was under the impression the focus was on prying the mirror cover itself away from the black plastic. It worked much better when i worked the black plastic off, then just popping the mirror cover off.

Tips for anyone that hasn't done this:
1. Use both the audienthusiast and ECS link.
2. Make sure to remove the 2 bottom screws that secure the lower trim to the assembly.
3. After all of the screws are removed and the tabs are pushed in, pry the bottom of the mirror cover away from the black plastic. Once it looks separated, start prying the black plastic piece off, slowly prying as you push in the tabs as you go. I started on the outside of the mirror and worked my way in.
4. When putting the cover back on, take your time and focus on sliding the tabs into the frame. I worked it on by lining up the screw holes slowly while making sure all others tabs were shifting into place.

What CF caps did you go with?

Got them on Ebay. They were not listed to fit the S4 but after doing a little research I decided they probably would and they were cheap enough to take a chance on. I have not seen an ECS carbon mirror in person so I can't give a comparison but these seem quality? And they have the lane assist. They were $130 shipped to my door!

I got mine on ebay last summer, they didn't handle heat very well. We had a week straight of 115+ temps and they ended up bubbling and getting them replaced by the seller was a huge pain, I ended up taking a loss of about $100 to get rid of them. Hope these work out better for you than the experience I had.
