Oil in Turbo Inlet Hose!!! Anyone know why?

    Hey guys ...
After following several threads i decided stage 1 tune my car and to bite the bullet and get a high flow filter and an ECS turbo inlet hose...When i pulled the stock hose off i noticed oil in the lower part of it, it is on the side that is connected to the motor. Just in the bottom half inch of the hose i could use my finder and feel it.. Is this normal ? Can anyone explain why this would be there. i thought that hose just pulled air in from the intake. Initially i thought it might have been some kind of lubricant to help the hose slide on the metal housing but that is just a guess!

    thanks guys.

How much oil are you talking about? Pooled there or just enough that you can feel it? Is it engine oil or something else?

Do you have an aftermarket oiled air-filter, or was one on the car at one point? Could be someone went a little overboard when oiling the filter.

Sounds like typical oil blow by to me. It's a side effect of PCV emissions systems on turbo cars. Could be the stock PCV is failing if excessive or it's normal and can be remedied with an aftermarket catch can.

All modern engines recirculate the oil mist produced in the engine to meet emissions. There are systems in place to try and capture as much of this mist as possible and return it to the sump but there will always be some that gets through. When this mist meets the cool air of the engine inlet, it will settle in the pipe leaving you with a dark looking sticky oil residue.
If you've more of a puddle of fresh oil then you have a problem somewhere.
