    Vibration Woes

Been having trouble tracking down a vibration on my car. The vibration started with it only happening at highway speed (65-70mph+). There was a sudden severe shaking in the wheel and it felt to be coming from the rear. However, it was intermittent, and more severe at times than others. For instance, I could be going at highway speed and it would very bad for a few miles, then less severe, or sometimes no vibration at all. Some friends following me observed that it looks both left right and left rear from outside the car. My passengers say the can feel it before highway speed and now it's gotten to the point that I can feel it at lower speeds in the wheel too, sometimes as low as 30 mph. However, it is still not a constant vibration at any speed. I checked over all the suspensions components in the rear, everything is tight and all the bushings appear to be in good shape. The only know problems I have that could effect this is my left front CV joint is bad. Otherwise the car is in solid shape mechanically. My only other guess is that I have a bad strut, since some of the people on here I've talked to believe I have defective coilovers. Whatever the case, I would like to get this taken care of before it escalates and since it is getting worse. Any ideas or things to check would be appreciated.

That doesn't sound like any fun :/ and its the lengthy process of checking and replacing.

I know when my pass. cv joint was bad it only made a clicking noise on turns(outer cv) Is it your inner or outer cv thats bad?

If all your suspension bits are nice and tight, and the bushings are in good shape, maybe its drive line related? possibly loosened axle/drive shaft bolts perhaps

If in case you do have shot coils do you still have factory strut/spring combo for a backup? when you installed the coils did you tighten the suspension stuff back down while it was under load?

Don't mean to ramble on haha, hopefully you can get this straightened out though

Left front outer CV, driveline could be a possibility, I'll have to check into that. Thanks

IS your car quattro? I would check your centre driveshaft has it make some awful backlast vibrations when the centre mount goes bad.
