Best performance mods for the b6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm not talking about just HP gains, but like snub mounts, recaros, engine mounts, suspension, anything really. I am a 3.0 owner soo of course I'm not gaining much HP, but I already love the way my car drives and I'm wondering what else I could add to make it feel better. So with all that said, what are the best and/or your favorite mods to your car?

034 rear subframe inserts along with an rs4 rear sway bar where one of my most favorite mods and relatively cheap.

can't really remember, but I think it was somewhere in the 3-4 hour range..I work slow though, most of that time was probably spent looking for tools, or getting distracted.

Coilovers and a big rear swaybar. B7 Center Console is a great upgrade. Oh, and sport seats. Definitely sport seats:

TEST PIPE. Not sure if its because i waited so long to install it (already had stage 1+ with all supporting mods) but when i finally got to it, wow. Most all around improvement out of any one single mod, better sound, low end torque, top end power, quicker spool.

I had ST Coilovers prior to installing an RS4 rear sway bar, and didn't notice a whole lot of difference to be honest, part of me wishes I would have sprung for the Hotchkis set.

The Hotchkis set is pricy but for me it was worth every penny. I have been enjoying them for over 10 years and 200k miles.

Shipping them is even more pricey when your outside of con-us! I've been eyeing a set off to drop in with some Stasis Tracksport coilovers but it's almost half the value to ship them.

I have the upgraded snub mount but I'm 1.8. It did seem to make a big difference for me and I went from it being completely gone when I got the car, to a stock foam cause it was cheap, to a Rev Motoring Poly. You didn't say if you are manual or auto. On my manual it made a big difference. On the auto it might be less noticeable I would think.

On that note if you are manual the 034 trans mount has made the biggest difference so far. Car feels much tighter without the shifter and trans moving around.

As for mods, the only thing I've done to the wifes 3.0 is 19" RS4 reps, which really set the B6 body lines off I find. I wouldnt mind adding some jam to the 3.0 as well for when I am driving it, but there isnt much out there. Which is probably a good thing, it keep the funds flowing into the S.

Disabling the door chime and seat belt chime is like a breath of fresh air.

My son approved of the recaros.

Otherwise, 034 mounts (including snub mount) made a nice difference, RS4 RSB along with KW V1's plant the car nicely without making it a harsh ride. But as mentioned above, I'd like to move up to the H-Sport S4 sway bars, the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive on them. I really like, as I'm sure most do, a nice handling car. It's usually at the top of my list of mods. Go fast parts too but I really hate a sloppy handling car. But eventually I end up modding/upgrading all areas of my cars.

Yes lots of cutting and splicing. Had to eliminate a bunch of wires on the seats for the occupancy sensor (which we don't have) as well as some other ones that were not necessary. The bitch was sorting out the airbag wires, which too some doing. No fault codes or lights.
I have to pull the drivers side at some point to finalize some of the wire wrapping. I'll take some photos of the wiring and start a thread for it. For the most part it was direct bolt up, the seats had a locator pin on the front of the rails that needed to be cut off.

It's just a non-smoking package lighter plug from my old M Roadster that I've hung onto, I put a red die cut sticker on it that says "EJECT". Played much better in a convertible. It's gone now, as I have a B7 center console now.
