    5F-Information Electr. -- Status: Malfunction 0010

When I use VCDS autoscan on my MY16 S6 (~1000 miles) I always get 5F-Information Electr. -- Status: Malfunction 0010 but there is no fault code found. Even after I clear all DTCs or erase (non existing) fault codes in module 5F, the malfunction 0010 is there when I run another autoscan. I use a Hex-Net with the latest updates and either VCDS beta 16.5.0 or VCDS mobile. Any suggestions how to get rid of this pesky malfunction message?

Your car is brand new so you can just take it to dealership to check. Don't hesitate to mention about what you found from VAGCOM because that would help them narrow down for what they will have to look at. Just scanning your own car doesn't void the warranty.

    hmuller,
I just purchased a new Varta battery from the dealer and coded it correctly using VCDS. While I had the program active, I decided to do a full scan and found the same "5F Information Electronics Malfunction 0010" fault. As with your experience, the 'fault' remained even after erasing any DTCs.

Did you ever get an answer on this?

Those messages are related to MMI.

Most commonly, on cars that the MMI firmware/maps were updated manually.

I've done this myself and got that same code, but just followed the procedure to activate/reset those related codes and it goes away.

An easy way to tell is if you go into your MMI version, and if the last part of your version starts with Kxxx instead of Pxxx that means it was updated. You might have to take it to the dealer to get it reactivated.

Same with my car, a MY16 S6. I just ignore it.

I had that "malfunction" from the very beginning before any map updates. I had the dealership check my MMI and they didn't find anything. So at this point I also just ignore this "malfunction."

My car didn't have it until after first service, when they did quite a few firmware updates.

They need to reactivate your MMI, Maps, or Bose Module, or all of the above and it should go away.
