How many miles are too many for a 2008 s8?

Im in the market to buy an s8 or a rs4 after I got thrown a curve ball with a great promotion. I'm leaning toward this 08 s8 I found with 60,000. How long do the v10's last? Do they have any common problems that i should look for when buying one? Assuming the car was well taking care of. And just for shits and giggles, the s8 and rs4 I'm looking at are around the same price, which would you go with? I personally am leaning toward the s8 For the comfort and size.

Do you see any RS4's in movies? NO...but you see S8's! In all seriousness, the RS4 was a great challenger to the e92M but it had issues with the V8 motor. Friends of mine with RS4s have spend quite the pretty penny to get them serviced. I personally love the S8 and classify it as a gentlemen's luxury sedan. It carries 4-5 passengers, at the same time, can rip a majority of sport cars out there to pieces. That v10 motor is a bit robust than the V8.

All i would caution against is a German V10 without a warranty. I do not know much about that specific engine other than it sounds amazing. I have no idea, they may be bullet proof.

The V10 in the S8 is a pretty darn reliable and durable engine. The key is maintenance. If abused and neglected I wouldn't want one out of warranty. If well cared for with documentation I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Failures of properly maintained engines are quite rare, but unfortunately shockingly expensive.

The V10 is a very strong and reliable engine. You rarely hear of any issues with them. As the previous poster says, it's all about maintenance. I drive the nuts out of my S8 and it regularly sees over 7000rpm. And yes, it does sound awesome. I love my V10
