    Low Dust Brake Pads?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all - looking to replace my pads soon. I really don't have any issues with the stopping power of the stock brakes with current pads and I don't plan on tracking my car. But I can't seem to drive down the block without my wheels looking like they need a good cleaning.

So I'm looking for a replacement which generates a lot less dust and maintains (or betters) the braking performance. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

I got the Hawk HPS, and like them, less dust than stock for sure but well performing. Need quick warmup over stock in cold climates/rain. Especially, if you stay off the brakes a lot like I tend to do, and work my gears where possible.

I'm running EBC Redstuffs and they are a great daily pad that can still be used on a track, and very low dust

This. Also you should check out G-Loc. The two brothers left Carbotech and started their own thing. They are the same or better from what I hear and they're a little cheaper.

Hey Reggie wondering if you noticed a big difference between stock pads vs the Posiquiets? I just bought my rs4 and it came with a new set of posiquiet ceramic pads on new stock rotors. I find them to be no very grabby at all but i have nothing to compare it to.

Used Stoptechs , and Carbotechs; the Carbotechs are the better pads They have better bite, even less dust, and smooth braking performance. No matter how many times I bed my Stoptechs, I could never rid my car of intermittent vibrations which drove me nuts.

I was very happy with the Carbotechs in every aspect, and highly recommend them.

Ill have a look see at these. My pads are brand new but im really debating if should spend more and update them to something with more stopping power.

    Low Dust Brake Pads?

use the Hawks HPS - low dust and happy with performance, in rain they need a bit of warmup, but I do prefer them over stock.

Can someone let me know the full CT number for these (to fit the B7 RS4)? Amazon shows three different 1521's to choose from. Thanks!

+1 to everyone who said Carbotech. I managed around 50k miles on my last set of bobcats. Would've got more but I did a track day with them.

Give them a call directly. They're easy to work with and you'll be sure you're getting the right pads.

I've found a couple of local service places that will put Carbotechs on for me once my pads starting getting thin (a quick visual check indicates around 5mm left). It also appears that I need new rotors since there's some deep grooves in my current ones which can't be resurfaced. One service place (AutoLogic in Bellevue, WA) recommended putting on ceramic brake pads, but realized that the RS4 calipers were too big for the pads they currently use (a Japanese brand whose name I can't recall). So my question is, are there are any other ceramic brake pad brands that will fit the RS4 and are they worth the extra $ in terms of eliminating dust and longevity? Based on everything I've read here, the carbotechs appear to be the best choice all round.

Per their website, CT1029 for fronts and CT1018 for rears

I was always under the impression that the biggest factor of brake dust was how well the brakes were ventilated. I've put brakes on my friends BMW. Rear were slotted and front was solid (cause he was being cheap). Noticed the rears got 90% less dust than the fronts. Prior to that, both axels were solid rotors and both turned his wheels brown fast.

Does anyone have any experience with the ECS Tuning front rotors (365x34) - the pair that sells for $799 on their website? I'm looking for reasonable quality front rotors without having to shell out $1k+ for OEM replacements. I plan to use the CarboTech pads with them.

You can get the Brembo version for a lot less, and they are identical to the Audi branded front rotors (Brembo is the OEM):
