    Looking at Used S4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
One of my local Audi dealers has a Phantom Black Pearl '13 6MT Prestige S4 with the following options available for $41,339:

    • 15,000 Miles
    • Sports Differential
    • 19" 5-Segment Spoke Wheels
    • Fine Nappa Leather
    • Stainless Steel Mesh Inlay
    • Summer & All-Season Tires
    • Supercharged Badges & Stone Guard
    • MMI Navigation
    • B & O Sound System

What do you think is a realistic selling price for this vehicle. I'm thinking I'll go in and offer $35k... Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

    Looking at Used S4

I got my '13 Prestige (same specs as you but Auto trans) w/ 23K miles for $35K from a used car dealer a couple months ago. I'd been monitoring the price from this dealer: started at 38,900, dropped to 36, then I pounced on it a day after it dropped to 35. It had been sitting in the lot for over 90 days. I think I made out like a bandit. Yours has less miles so I'd say dealer is looking for no less than $38K. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Late March 2016. Used car dealer in Massachusetts. Drove over 200 miles from NJ and the dealer knew it, so I lost a lot of negotiating leverage on my trade-in but the S4 price was so low that I didn't care.

Never hurts to ask but that's a pretty big drop from $41.3K. I wouldn't let it go for that price anyway....

i think they will tell you to fly a kite, 36-37 seems like a better way to start negotiations...

I got similar spec'ed '14 DSG with ~14k miles on it for 39k. (Had 20" RS4 rims, clear bra, full STaSIS touring package)

I don't think 35k is unreasonable for that car but, I doubt they will accept it.

    No harm in offering though.

My feeling is also you should buy it at around $38K . I bought mine in February.

It is all about market value for your location, Any car will have a different value in different locations. You can use book value if you like but that is really a lending guide for banks... Look at what other similar cars are selling for in your area or how long they have had it, that is a huge drop in price but always worth a shot, you need to find a real value you are willing to go for and work on getting there, not a nice low number because no reason other than being cheap. If you come at them with facts and comparisons you will find they are more willing to deal.

You can call AoA with the VIN and see if it is or was. (If it is you will need to fill out the transfer paperwork I think)

If they certify it and you are first purchaser, I'd say that is worth a pretty good premium over an AOTBE car, especially in terms of resale.

To start, offer them $37K, if they CPO it.

Used S4s are in short supply and High demand. If you can get this car for under $40k you will be lucky. But realistically you should make a low offer. Start at $37K and go from there . CPO costs dealer $2k. It all depends how badly you want the car and how willing they are to sell it. Are there any other alternatives in your area? BTW, 6MTs are rare and coveted by many.

Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

There are no major differences between the 6MT '13 S4 and '16 S4, correct? The B8.5 model started in '13 and has gone largely unchanged since...?

Some of the 2013's had some steering issues (see thread in this forum). But aside from the Black-Optics package getting different wheels somewhere in between, I believe that the car is pretty much unchanged from 2013 to 2016.

I just bought a 13 DSG prestige with the exact same options and similar miles as you have, CPO with brand new set and winter tires and rims for $42,000. But I live in Canada so I'm not sure if the price is relevant

Starting in 2014, the keyless entry became standard, Prior to 2014 it was an option. But basically the same car and features. In fact, the differences between a 2010 and a 2016 are not that great. But the newer cars do have more features.

If you go in there with 35 they will tell you to pound sand. I would start at 37 and go from there. I would ask to see if it has CPO first.
