Is the exhaust resonator a manifold?

I put a warranty claim in to replace the downpipe resonator but it has been rejected on the basis that exhaust manifolds are not covered.

Can I argue that the resonator is not a manifold?

Agreed. Technically speaking, in the context of piping/tubing a manifold is an assembly where multiple pipes/tube converge into one. The exhaust headers that directly mount to the engine are an example. (Why they wouldn't be covered under Audi's factory warranty, I don't know). But the pipes that mount to the outlets of the two manifolds on the B8 S4, commonly referred here as 'downpipes', are not manifolds in any sense of the word.

Cheers guys, it's an aftermarket warranty so expected a certain level of awkwardness.
