HELP! Manual Close Procedure for Sunroof

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello - my sunroof decided it no longer wants to close fully. Instead of closing, it seems to hit the sensor when its 99% closed, and bounces back open. I've checked the tracks, and see no obstructions. Does anyone now how I can manually close the sunroof in the meantime, until I can bring it in to the dealer and have it looked at under my CPO warranty? Thanks!

Do you have open/close setup via key/keyfob? If so, I would try that and see if you have any luck.

Might try resetting the electrical system either via MMI or pull the battery for a bit.

Hopefully someone is more informed than I am as I am grasping at straws.

There is a tool they give you to manually crank it, sorry i have never done it. Open the manual and see what is says to do. Usually the tool is behind where the fuse cover is.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who know binary and those who don't.

Yeah, on my Jetta, you popped open the cover near the buttons on the roof and there was a little Allan crank y could use to manually crank it open/shut. I'm assuming the same tool/setup exists on this car.

I would try closing it via the key in the door first

Check your owners manual. The procedure to manually close it should be in there.

Park it in the shade for a bit and try....I had a vw that when it got really hot would not close because it hit the pinch sensor and would just open all the way back up. If that works then the pinch sensor has to be adjusted.

There's an Slot for an Allen key I think it's in the glasses compartment.. It's hard though, especially if somethings obstructing it.. I tried it once and it sucks.. You're better off using a socket bit and Rachet than the provided tool
