    Hotchkis Sway Bars

So I've done some searching on the forum and found some discussion on Hotchkis sb's on the b5 s4/rs4 pages but that's pretty much it. I ran these on a Subaru years ago and they were solid products.

Does anyone have experience/opinions on Hotchkis sway bars or other products? I'm looking to upgrade suspension soon...thanks.

Hotchkis is about as good as it gets. They are the only manufacturer AFAIK who used a honeycomb center to keep it light, and stiff, where others are smaller and solid, or thicker and hollow.

Deciding factor for me in going with the Hotchkis bars was that the bushing brackets included grease gun nipples so you can regrease them in seconds instead of all the other sway bars which need to be removed to be regreased. Just don't install the front bar on the stiffest setting. You'll get clunking and what I felt to be increased understeer.

Thank for the front bar advice!

Mine is currently on the first bolt hole 45% stiffer than stock, i wanted to try the the 2nd 75% stiffer just to see how it felt. Now i wont as i was afraid of the increased understeer and clunking.

I have the EC front and rear bars, with stock end-links. Both bars are on the stiffer setting, no clunks or squeeks and I find the handling response perfect. The bars have been installed for the past 12,000 miles.

H&R sway bars are unique because they use teflon bushings that never squeak and never need to be lubricated. AFAIK they're the only company to offer the Teflon bushings, which never need to be serviced. They're also made from the best steel alloy on the market with the highest tensile strength. Not the cheapest, but top quality.

This was my deciding factor as well... only I am on the stiffest setting and i LOVE them on the AR with AccuAir/Bilstein dampers... The canyons are so damn fun now. Highly recommended.

Any advice on the best online deal currently? I've been looking either H&R (they have Avant on spec), Eurocode and Hotchkis.

My impression is that the H&Rs typically have lower spring rates than what other aftermarket companies sell. H&R are better quality, like the Teflon lined bushings, and a better paint. I have never seen a rusty H&R bar....other brands yes. Not that some surface rust on a bar makes any difference, other than looks.
