When are people putting on their winter set ups?

I'm just wondering when people are putting on there winter wheels and tires? After Thanksgiving?

mines been on since i bought the car, lol no upgrades for me yet :( maintnence first, lol but im looking into getting 18" B6 rims for $200 nice little deal, but without tires :(.....

im probably gonna raise my car back to near stock in about 2-3 weeks right now im way to low, add snow and that wont be good at all

I live in Norcal so winter mode for me is putting my splash guard back on.

I could use some new tires for a fact though, and if I go up to Kirkweed I could use my current ones as winter.

Other than that and not being able to wax my car as often (rain, rain, rain) winter mode is non existant.

Ill be throwing mine on when we get our first snowfall... Im going to run the 18's... and when I see snow, jack up the car in the garage and swap em out.....

In the next few weekends, maybe this Sunday. Like to have my winters on when the temps are 6 degrees or lower, as the summer tires become hockey pucks at those temps and aren't helping your cause.

I just put mine on today. I plan to go to the mountain this weekend. It is also good to keep in mind that brake dust gets acidic when wet. That is why many people switch to a winter setup even if they don't plan on seeing any snow in their car. The rainwater alone can do damage. I live in Oregon and it rains a fair amount here so I definitely need a winter setup.

I'm in VT so I know all about snow, the car is pretty much a snowplow, I'm going on my 3rd bottom cover, but anyway, as far as tires go, Gislaved (spelling might be off) I have found to be the best, and the tread pattern is much nicer than Nokian's

i've been ready for a couple weeks. last year i was still dumped and we got a freak snowstorm the day before thanksgiving. changing suspension with snow in the wheelwells is no fun at all.



oem sport suspension, h sport sways, a8 brakes, dunlop m2 wintersports.

put mine on like a week and a half ago b/c I bubbled one of my tires on a pothole...so instead of shellin out the $$ for a new tire now..its close enough to winter

I have a question though. I have H&R race w/ bilstein adjustable height shocks. should I leave those on but just put the bilsteins on their highest level? Or just put the stock springs on w/ bilsteins on lower level? Or all stock? Or what?

I can't wait till winter! i feel bad for the quattro owners who have no winter...
anyways the weekend of t-giving, i will put my black stock wheels and snow tires on, paint the ic black, raise the car 3.5" and throw the skid plate back on, and ill be ready for the ice racing :)

i'd say, just leave them on, adjust to highest level, get 17" or 16" wheels, have 1/2 tank of gas or less, get snow tires..

and you're good to go.. =)

thats how it goes here in chicago.

i'm putting my stockers back on today. plus i'm going to weight my HP EVOs 18s and compare them against my stock 16s...i'm assuming they should be the same. i have a digital scale so we will see what they weight.

its gonna be in the 30s next week and i'd rather be putting them on while its mid 50 to 60s out then when its 20-30 degrees out. so thats today project. sucks!

I did the same, washed the interior of the car and swapped out to winter mode. Last thing left is the lights, those are next weekend.
