    Servotronic steering questions

Just purchased an 06 2.0T that has steering issues. Im not too familiar with how the servotronic steering should feel.

I pulled the relay and the steering at idle/low speed was heavier, but nothing crazy. With the relay in place steering at idle is noticeably lighter but at about 20 it starts to get heavier and around 40mph it feels the same as when the relay is removed.

Also tried a different relay with the same results.

There is also some creaking when turning the wheel sometimes.

    Time for a new rack?

You def seem familiar with Audis...so I suspect control arms / tie rods are relatively new? I'd start there as those are more "creaky" type items.

haha I've worked on a few of them. control arms all looked good, nothing felt loose, no clunks over bumps. The creaking isnt there all the time... or even in the same steering wheel position. It does sound like its coming from the rack area but its hard to pin point as I havent figured out how to continuously replicate it.

Thanks, Ill check out their site.

Fluid level looks good, no leaks.

Only thing I seen was the passenger side boot was torn but the inner tie rod still looks good and doesn't feel like there's any play in it.

Is it possible to swap in a non-servotronic rack?

I changed my power steering fluid in the reservoir 4 times in order to flush it through the system, made a big difference for me. My creaking was worn out sway bar bushings, might want to give those a look.
