    SO.....uh......Whats the Damage?...B7 A4 2.0T 2007 model

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently have been trying to figure out why my fans wouldn't come on, and I checked relays in the ECU box (IDK if there is anything there related to fans, but I was checking anything and Everything) well I guess I didn't fasten the box down well and it rained and flooded it, car didn't start, so I replaced the relays, the car started, but It didn't last long, mind you, it ran fine before the rain incident, just the fans didn't work, but as long as the car was moving, it had no problem, well now there were a whole slew of issues and idek where to begin, I got it scanned and well.......here it is...lol.....

Any help into getting it started and running good, would be much appreciated, some of the stuff I know I can fix, but I would just like to narrow down the issues so im not just buying my way throught POSSIBLE issues.

    -Many thanks

You may want to check for corrosion in the area that was left open to the elements

Check the ECU relays, fuses and power connections. This looks like an electrical issue to me.

I checked the fuses, but idk which relays are for the ECU, it seems almost VIN specific, they all seem to be set up differently

Well if you got flooded, I would check the Terminal 30 positive power areas under that chamber, and in the dash with a multimeter. You're losing voltage on the ECU.

I would disconnect the battery and use brake cleaner to clean out the area and leave over night to dry. Perhaps put a fan on it. Get some air moving over it.

don't use brake cleaner, use contact cleaner as it is much less likely to cause a fire.

Ok, I will give that a try, the terminal 30, is it connected to the box like a ground or something?

Terminal 30 is in various places, you'll need to review the wiring diagrams. They're all positive constant connections to the battery. If they're corroded or damaged, you will lose voltage to the ECU as it seems to be the case as per your logs. It appears to be related to the ECU relay, I would remove it and recheck the contacts, clean them and ensure a good contact / voltage.

Also, go to a dealer and check your ECU firmware revision. I think 020 is an early one. Pretty sure mine is 090.

Is that something that can be downloaded and updated via VAGCOM?

I would start with the previous suggestions, disconnect the battery and get cracking with the contact cleaner. As for the fans, I would test the fan control module. I had the same issue and ended up grabbing a used one... Problem solved.

Read the 0V on the modules. All connected via the ECU, getting no terminal 30 power
