Those numbers do look amazing on APR. Much better than the difference from stock for my A5.

Since the tune I have had two instances of deciding to just mash down the accelerator. The first time the car completely hesitated for about 5 seconds and then just shot forward. The other time the it sounded like the clutch was slipping and it slammed into the gears very hard. I'm wondering if the High Torque tune was not the best idea. I will baby it from now on I guess.

I have both the ecu and tcu tunes and I don't have any shifting issues at all. There is a significant difference in the "hesitation" between S and D I expect is from the tranny already being closer to the ideal gear for accelerating when in S mode. Also having the gear indicator showing at all times is pretty cool and keeps you more informed as to what gear changes are taking place when you are in auto mode.

Maybe the big difference is that you have the tcu tune. How did that change how the car drives for you?

They definitely say to do the TCU reflash, especially if you are getting the high-torque ECU reflash. Are you going to go back and get it done?

Anyone who is reflashed take their TTS to the drag strip yet? Really interested to see if a Stage1 TTS can break into the high 11's considering the weight savings VS the S3/Golf R

Just switched my tune to low torque. Car feels just as fast. No more stutter on 1-2 shift. Put in dog bone mount. Big difference in shifting in and driving. Lowered soundkater 50%. You can actually here my intake in the car now. Car feels, sounds and drives much better. Will go stage 2 when it is released.

What about the DSG reflash? I heard that's a must-have for this car, really wakes up the DSG? Also, are you gonna do some 1/4 mile testing?

I have gotten APR involved and they said those issues should not be happening at all. They also said the TCU flash is only required for a stage 2 ecu flash. They were worried my car came with low DSG fluid and I'm going to VAG it on Monday.

I doubt it's low fluid. My shop seemed to think it was wheel spin causing traction control. You don't need TCU tune for stage 2. They have a low torque option for that as well when it is released. It's a really light car for 360+ pounds of torque. I felt a tad bit of wheel spin this morning. But overall low torque tune drives much better. Car does not feel any slower.

Going to my dealer today. I brought up my skepticism regarding the DSG fluid issue. APR says that they have been running into this issue over the past year or so with the S3's and that VW/AUDI has been shorting the DSG fluid in brand new cars. I will let you all know what we find out.

We're looking into the shifting issue, it does to appear to be a recurring thing with high torque and stock DSG. If anybody else has more experiences or feedback, please let me know and help us figure out the exact situation.

Fluid was fine. No codes. After talking with Sean and pointing him to this thread we decided to go Low Torque for now ( thanks jimmyny ). Spirited drive 30 miles to meet my wife late for dinner did feel a lot smoother and didn't feel a lack of torque.

High torque is no good with the tcu tune? I thought blcksmth didn't have the DSG tune which was contributing to the problem?

I have video from the track with obd overlays and can show the slipping, 5th / 6th gear for me. Talking with jimmy and him talking with blksmith; I'm going to lower mine down to the low trq as well. I'll try to get that video up tonight

They didn't charge you for another tune. Tuning has been and will always be ever evolving. You're dealing with so many different factors. Environmental, fuel availability and more.

If it were that easy it'd just be the way.

I believe this was the session, it was right after I hit the rumble strips.

Now there was a fully tracked prepped M3 on my tail so the sounds at the moment it happens weren't that bad, it's a mixture of the wind, the M3 passing me and me letting off the throttle trying to figure out what happened.


Also the pip isn't accurate: when I was trying to clip just this part I messed up something in Harry's Lap Timer

Still driving smooth at this point and I have been beating on it a little to try and make it slip. I agree with everyone here that the HQ Tune needs to be revisited by APR or atleast paired with the TCU tune. Based on what happened with the HQ tune I'm going to hold off on the TCU tune since even if it's working perfectly it does cause more heat on the transmission.

Just an update, HT tune and TCU tune, multiple track days and auto cross and driving around town and to work every now and then spiritedly.... No issues, much improved over not have the tcu before. 13.5k miles
