Hey guys,
Josh with Meraki Autoworks here, starting a build thread for our shop 2014 Daytona Gray Audi RS5!! We wanted a shop Audi vehicle, and the facelifted RS5 was always on our top 3 vehicles. (RS7, S8, RS5). So we dropped by Penske Audi here in Los Angeles, California, and picked up a CPO RS5 with 20k miles on the ODO. Most of our other shop cars are all V8s, with header back exhausts, so we needed to change out our stock exhaust ASAP.
First modification:
Our very first modification was to switch out the exhaust, and we pulled the trigger on the Akrapovic titanium exhaust. We wanted to utilize the OEM valves without having to carry a separate remote, so that crossed out some exhaust options. Also, in our opinion, nothing can beat the sound of the titanium.. It has a unique sound to it, and when you're in the high RPM range, it sounds like an exotic race-car!
Upon receiving the product, we noticed a HUGE weight savings compared to the OEM exhaust. The quality of the exhaust is also very well made. At the moment, we decided that the exhaust might be too quiet, so we also deleted the stock resonator and straight piped the section. (We will be buying a down-pipe down the road).
Overall, we love the exhaust on the RS5!
Second modification:
Our second modification was to get rid of the OEM wheels. Sorry to people that like the stock OEM RS5 wheels, but it wasn't very appealing to us. We found that aftermarket wheels looked a lot better on this car. We wanted wheels that had a lot of concavity and had a darker finish. So we reached out to our friends at Vorsteiner, and ended up with their VFF-102 wheels. The Vorsteiner wheels were significantly lighter than the OEM wheels, coming in at about 8 lb saving per wheel. Which is about 32 lbs of unsprung weight!
The car looks AMAZING while cruising down the road and while parked. Especially with the limited edition red center caps, it really sets the wheels off.
Future modifications:
Due to starting to mod our vehicle, it leads to the endless road of modifications. Up next on our list is the Eventuri intake, Airlift suspension, E-code headlights, & more.. If you guys have any suggestions, please comment below with the pro/cons of our planned future mods or your personal opinion on our current mods.
Thanks guys,
Hope to become more involved in the community!
-Josh
