    Recaro's - worth it?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Trying to justify the purchase of a set of recaro seats but is it worth the almost $1000?

Comments from anyone that upgraded to recaro would be appreciated.

They keep the value pretty much right? if you keep them in good condition.

OEM Recaro. Black and in a fine condition. Seller is asking $950 but I would like to see if I can negotiate that.

I feel the same way, but i'm sure they are well worth it. I like aftermarket seats, but my god do they suck on road trips. I've been looking for some from a B7 and they come out time from time. I can justify the expense to make the ride on my ass and back worth the amount spent. Just like the bi-xenons.... night and day amigo

x2. I had my stock seats for about ~148k miles, and they were falling apart and were not comfortable at all. Recaros, now I can drive for hours without having to worry about it. Just wish they were ventilated...

No, which is why sometimes I'll stand outside with the a/c full blast on the seat to cool it off before going to drive. Helps a little bit.

Living in Miami in the summer, there is no helping having a somewhat sweaty ass.

lol so is swamp ass a symptom of having recaros or just as common as any other seat?

Kristian, hook me up with your recaro connection if you don't take them. If they're good front and rear, from a B7 so I don't have to do bladder swap then I'm in.

You tell me if they are B6 or B7? I cant tell from the pic.

To the rest of the readers; what would you offer the guy? I dont wanna low ball him but $950 does seem a bit steep.

I don't know how to tell from the seats, not sure if you even can but it could be an important negotiating factor for you because there is a considerable amount of work involved in converting B6 recaro to work in a B7 without a CEL.

My stock seats are just now starting to show wear at about 178k miles, drivers seat has about a 1" long split/crack along the bolster closest to the door. More than likely going to replace them with Recaro's later this year so glad to see they are a worthwhile mod, just hoping to find a nice platinum set for sale when the time comes. Preferably from a B7 as well!!

judging by the looks of them, they look pretty good. I would have to see how the driver side bolsters look up close to justify the cost.

They look like they came from a B6 based on the rear headrests. If I'm not mistaken the B7's have a smaller/more flush set of headrests all of which can be swapped over from your current rear seats. I want to get on this OEM Recaro bandwagon too 😕

Not sure there are any other distinguishable differences other the headrests for the back seats. Any remaining differences would be more so on the electrical side.

Found this thread and it seems pretty helpful in regards to pointing out the difference from the underside of the seat.

I performed a bladder swap in the past at a wrenching sunday, not that bad of a job if you take your time, nicks car blog excellent resource.

Recaros are very worth the upgrade and 950 for front and back is a good price in mu opinion. I paid 800 for very nice condition heated B7 fronts only

If you look at the seat belt holes on the rear bench seat. On my B6 recaros they do not fully surround the seat belt which actually makes it easier to remove and reinstall the bench. These seats pictured and my stock B7 seats fully surround the seat belt buckles.

I'd say $950 is reasonable if they are in good condition.

Those are almost certainly B6 seats though, the rear headrests are a dead giveaway. The other way to tell is if the plastic back panel (with the mesh storage pocket) of the front seats wraps around the sides or not. If it wraps around they're B7 if it doesn't they're B6.

Also the tray under the front seats. The b6 seats slide out while the b7 seats fold down.

Early B7's have the drawer too. Doors started in late 07 iirc.

B6 have removable airbags in the front seats. B7 airbags are under the leather.

B7 have a "wrap around" rear panel on the front seats.

B7 have 5 wires in the black connector on the passenger seat. (Bladder)

B7 have the stubby rear headrest.

Okay all - I turned out a bit interesting.

A friendly local and AZ member texted me to let me know that the picture I posted earlier was in fact a picture from a sales add from VWortex a couple of years back. Super weird. I texted the seller and he replied that it was in fact a old picture and that he dosnt have a picture of his but they are identical to the ones on the picture.

Asked for pictures of his set and told him that I would scoop them today if we could come to an agreement. - never heard back from him. Strange.

Seller, if you are reading this - I'm still interested but let us meet in a public location and make the transaction

Will continue to look for a good condition set of black B7 Recaros.
