    P0087 Hard Starts

So a few days ago I went out to my car to go to class and it cranked for a lot longer than usual then stuttered when it finally started. Eventually it settled down and it drove fine. On my way back home the check engine light came on but it still drove just as normal. I thought it was a one time deal so i scanned for codes and it came back P0087 “Fuel Rail/System pressure too low” so i reset it and it came back the next day and every day after that. It only does it after it sits overnight. The fuel filter was changed less than a year ago and I’m leaning towards a hpfp but before spending that $$ i wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience. Its a 2007 4.2. Thanks!

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you open the driver door?

Yes, you can hear it prime when you open the drivers door and when you turn the key to run.
